Bryophyllum

B. fedtschenkoi
Sideview
B. fedtschenkoi Hamet et Perr.

Originates from the Central Highlands and Southern parts of Madagascar. The trailing and much branching shrub produces proproots from the stem to support the erect younger growth, however the weight of the thick succulent leaves will bring to low stem to touch the ground. The most attractive part is the leaves and the flowers. The leaves turn to a violet/bluish-red hue and the leaf margins reddish-brown if grown in the full sun. Adventitious plantlets develop between the crenatures along the leaf margins on the older leaves. The flowers are pendulous, pinkish.

Since the old plants tend to trail and lose their old leaves, leaving bare stems and the proproots, it is worthwhile to rejuvenate the plant from younger stem cuttings
