B. proliferum R. Hamet. This bryophyllum has pinnata leaves (like B. pinnatum)on mature specimens, but produces simple leaves on young specimens. The photo shows this interesting characteristic. Plantlets are produced from leaf crenatures when stressed, which is unlike that of B. delagoense or B. daigremontianum. Plantlets are produced on the inflorescence. It is a robust plant from the highlands around the capital city Antananarivo (Tananarive) of Madagascar. The malagasy people used this plant to treat rheumatism in ethnomedicine.
