Documents that are readable or downloadable from a webpage are easy to put on a page, as well as music files and graphics. Just upload the file to your File Manager directory and put a link to it on your GeoBuilder page. |

Decide what documents you want to use. If you are going to create documents, it's best to use a universal format for them...not everyone can open and read a MSWorks document, for instance. If the document is comprised of simple text, use Notepad or Wordpad. Many people have MS Word and Adobe Acrobat Reader, but again...not everyone. |

Pictures and other graphics should be compressed or at least saved in a format that keeps the file size reasonably small. BMP files are very large and take a long time to open for viewing on many computers. If you have Ulead, Photo Shop, Paint Shop Pro or anything similar, convert your .bmp files to .gif or .jpg files. These file types will open faster and take up less room in your File Manager directory. |

There are many different types of music files out there, and I admit I'm not up on all the latest ones. I do know that midi files are usually much smaller than wav files and open quicker for play. The thing here is to remember that many people have only the basic players like Media Player and Real Player, so if you offer files of a specific type, be sure to include a link to the site that has a download for that type of player. |

Zipped files are also downloadable, as long as the person wanting to download has a Zip drive or application. Zip files take up much less room in your File Manager directory and are quick to download.
Zip files cannot be unzipped from your page link. When the link is clicked, a window will open that gives the user a choice: "Open the file from this location" or "Save this file to disk". |

Upload the files using EZ Upload in the File Manager. Document files are uploaded in the same manner as music and graphics files. To view your uploaded files, select Other when entering the File Manager. |

If you have a lot of files to upload and link to, select all the options above except html, enter the File Manager, and print out the list of files for reference. It sure beats writing them all down. |

Once all the files are uploaded, go into GeoBuilder and open the page you want the link(s) on. |

|
|
|
|
Create a link object for each file. The link can be text or a graphic. |

You can change the color of the text link. Select it; click on the Modify button on the blue toolbar. Select the text with your mouse, then click on the Color button in the text window. Select a color in the color picker, click OK. |
