This is the text I am going to use to demonstrate how to center text on a background color. |

CREATING A MARGIN OF COLOR |
...To create the illusion of margins, use dashes or dots the same color as ...the background at the beginning of each line in the text box: |
1. Resize the text box to how you want it: |
2. Click on the text box to select it, then click on the Modify button on the blue toolbar. |
3. Position the text editor window where you can see the text on the page. |

4. Move the cursor to the beginning of the line of text
5. Click on the Color button; select the same color you selected for the background
6. Use dots ... or dashes --- to move the text in from the edge.
7. Move to the beginning of the next line of text, repeat steps 5 and 6
8. Hit enter at the beginning of the first line to get a nice space at the top, if you want
9. Select the text and use the little red box in the lower left-hand corner to adjust the right and bottom margins to match the ones you created for the top and left: |

You can switch fonts, sizes and colors any time during a text entry, or you can select specific parts of the text and change it after all the text is typed. |
Notice that the font Courier comes out looking a bit ragged in larger sizes. |
And then there's my favorite text tool.... |

I don't have any tutorials for this on my site, sorry. I'm self-taught and I don't want to pass along my questionable techniques. There are some great tutorial sites for the top graphics applications, and I plan to put some links on my site soon. Photo Shop is probably the best one out there, but I don't have it yet. Paint Shop Pro has a 30-day trial offer that you can pick up on. |
