VIEWING THE SOURCE CODE OF A WEB PAGE

If you see something on a web page that you would like to put on one of your own pages, you can do a "View Source" on the page to see all the HTML code. Just remember that not all HTML stuff works on a GeoBuilder page (see my Basic Page and Enhanced Page for tips on that). Even if you don't plan to actually use any of the HTML code on one of your pages, it is still a great educational tool to look at it and see how it works.

NOTE: This page is based on the results of doing a source view with Windows 95 operating system. If these directions don't work for your operating system, please let me know.

INTERNET EXPLORER

1. On the webpage you have opened on the net, right-click on the background.

2. In the menu that opens, select View Source

3. The page source will open in notepad, ready to wordwrap, edit, etc.

NETSCAPE NAVIGATOR

1. On the webpage you have opened on the net, right-click on the background.

2. In the menu that opens, select View Source

3. The page's source code will open in another window.

There's no wordwrap in this window, so do this: Select all the page (Ctrl A on your keyboard) Copy the page (Ctrl C on your keyboard) Open Notepad, paste the text.
