I am from Chinese descent. Here, we still practice the culture from our background, especially in my hometown Medan, North Sumatera. But of course as Christians, we do not practice the culture forbidden by the Lord. The culture is just like Chinese New Year which is to come. There are two days in the celebration. In the first day, the old family (senior ones) stayed at home, and the young family (junior ones) goes to the senior for greetings. In the second day, the senior ones visit the junior. It happens only once a year.
I have 7 aunties and 2 uncles from my mother's side, who most of them haven't believed in Christ. They often say, "The religions are just the same." We are the only family saved and believed all in Jesus. My family and I are from the background of Buddhism. We liked the red color (the Buddhist temple color), but the the red now has become the blood of Jesus Christ which has made us as white as snow.
My father passed away on February 1996. He was an English and Chinese teacher. Thank God my father is now with the Father in heaven. At that time, we are still in the process to Indonesian Citizenship. Though we were born in Indonesia, but we had been Chinese Citizens before 1996.
My mother is working as a tailor, especially for ladies' clothes. I have only one younger brother who has finished his study and graduated from the Faculty of Economics in the subject of Management at the Universitas Kristen Krida Wacana, except all my brethren in Christ all over the world, and you.
