Classic Gaming Expo '99 Museum Exhibit
The CGE'99 Museum Exhibit had an amazing array of classic systems, unreleased prototypes, and very hard to find systems and cartridges. There was too much to list here, but I will list a few of the most notable items. Pictures will be coming soon.

  • Atari Game Brain - Atari's unreleased cartridge-based Pong-style system. Only three of these are known to exist.
  • Atari Cosmos - Complete with retail box! This was supposed to be the first commercially produced device to use holograms, but was never released. This unit is thought to be the only one of this handheld system in existence. I was able to pick up one of the original holograms and a sales brochure, both of which will be scanned and posted here soon.
  • Atari CX-2000 - Two versions of this prototype system were shown, a brown one and a blue one. This was essentially an Atari 2600 with two built-in controllers. The cartridge port is on the back and apparently the systems was designed as a "laptop" 2600.
  • Kee Games 2600 - An orange 2600 with the Kee Games label. Never released.
  • Atari 2700 - A remote control 2600. The controllers are battery operated. Never released.
  • Atari 2800 - Released in Japan only, and didn't sell very well. Very rare and sought after by collectors.
  • Atari Mindlink Controller - A never released peripheral for the 2600 that was supposed to read your thoughts and control a game based on them. It didn't work, so was never released.
  • Atari 5100 - A smaller version of the 5200. Never released.
  • Hotel Atari 5200 - A system designed to be installed in hotel rooms. Allowed the user to select from 6 different games.

  • These are only a few of the many, many items on display. I highly recommend attending CGE 2000 to see next years museum exhibit!
