William Zerbe, the son of Ludwig Zerbe and Rosa Schoenwald Zerbe, was born September 16, 1893, in Zagovovo, Poland.

On October 21, 1959 he passed quietly into the presence of the Lord.
In the spring of 1913, at the age of 20, he and his brother Henry came to the United States and joined their brother Ferd and their uncles in Dalton, South Dakota.
On July 23, 1918, he was inducted into the U.S. Army and served in World War I at Fort Dodge, Iowa.
He was honorably discharged on June 21, 1919, and returned to his homestead.
