Sitting in silent candlelight,
Alone upon this moonlit night.
To muse aloud, but yet unheard,
From ravaged heart with written word.
Oh what emotion moves me so?
To search the world both high and low
For someone who can help me gain
Peace, through the eloquence of pain.
In my heart strength gains a foothold,
I go boldly into the cold,
Seeking fate in the darkest space,
Reaching out to the human race.
And in those places yet unseen
A collective mind waits for me,
With someone who can help me gain
Grace, through the eloquence of pain.
So then I rise to meet the day,
Another night has passed away,
My search has been yet unfulfilled,
I persevere by strength of will.
And while my heart rests without peace,
My wanderings will never cease,
Without one who can help me gain
Love, through the eloquence of pain.
Watching
Wanting
Knowing
Heart’s temptation
Mind’s warning
Looking
Feeling
Hearing
Past experiences
Future mistakes
Insight
Control
Today’s lesson
Tomorrow’s wisdom
He sits upon the horizon
Casting his shadow in my direction
Leading me toward the setting sun.
Is he truly moving forward?
Or am I just walking in place
As the earth continues its orbit.
And does that mean that if I stop
He will continue to follow the sun
Until he stands by my side in the morning light?
I wonder
Who is he, does he have a name?
Or do shadows have substance?
Could it be a mere mirage?
The shape of emotion yet unfelt
In a heart too tired to dream?
I know not.
But I continue to move westward
In hopes of finding out.
Anticipation
Hesitation
Wanting
Hoping
Leaning forward
Making contact
Breathing deeply
Heart pounding
Licking
Sucking
Holding
Ending
Too soon
Want more
Not enough
Will again
I wonder
If you know how much I think about you each day?
Or how my dreams are filled with you each night.
I wonder
If my service pleases you in any way?
Or if I’m really doing anything right.
I wonder
If all my wishes are finally coming true?
And will you want me as much as I desire you?
I wonder
If my search is finally through?
Because I found all that I looked for, in you.
Whispers in the darkness
Words travelling through the night
Across the void
To touch another mind
With lightning’s intensity
A verbal stimulation of heart and soul
Between two strangers of similar contemplation
A challenge and a question -
Can you illuminate my path?
As I walk the world by gaslight,
Newly brought into this world of darkness,
Many things appear differently to me now.
Although before I looked upon this place
Through artist’s eyes, filled with color and form,
Everything is much clearer to me now.
But I wonder, truly wonder,
If accepting my benefactor’s dark embrace
Truly enhanced my perception of life.
I no longer hear, see, taste, smell, nor feel as others do.
Nay, I experience these things a thousandfold.
Yet, my understanding has not increased proportionately.
Does that mean in time, when I am no longer a childe,
That I will understand these things as one normally does
When one has achieved the wisdom of age?
Or, will the sound of a heartbeat,
Combined with the rushing of blood through an artery,
Cease to create a gnawing hunger deep within my soul?
Ah, I truly ponder these new questions,
Even as I revel in the gifts that have been bestowed upon me,
And despair in the knowledge that I shall never again feel the sun’s caress.
So, even as things have changed, they have remained the same.
For with new power has come new responsibility,
And once the old questions were answered, new dilemmas unfold.
“Who are you,?” they cried,
Their minds confused, their hearts torn asunder.
“I am Mother to the World” she answered,
And she smiled to ease their pain.
“What are you doing here?” they asked
Their curiosity was childlike, as their demeanors began to change.
“I have come to help you remember,” was her enigmatic reply.
Then she smiled, and they began to trust.
“Why now?” was their next query.
Their minds began to open, as their spirits soared.
“Because you are ready, my children,” she responded.
When she smiled, they began to laugh with her.
“How can you help us?” they demanded
With child-like selfishness, their sense of play returning.
“By teaching you to love,” she murmed.
Yet she smiled, because she loved them.
“But we already know how to do that.”
Was their retort, as they dashed off in a different direction.
“Yes, you have already learned that lesson,” she said to herself.
And she smiled, her work complete.
Words pour forth upon the page
From the poet in my soul
In goodly measure,
Yet conforming not to verse or meter.
Archaic structures now unremembered
By the cognizant masses.
Yet I knowest from whence they come
Slumbering not in the light of thy countenance.
Their rhyme and meter pulse from within
As if they were the lifeblood in my veins
Struggling to burst forth
As surely as if I had taken knife to artery.
Visions of another time
Another place of reckoning
Haunt me now
In the light of your eyes.
I stand before you,
Whose darkness calls to me
From a place within long forgotten,
And offer you my plea.
Allow me to serve.
Take my need and twist it
To feed your own unquenchable desire,
And sate your passion.
Upon my knees now
I strain to meet the kiss
Of your whip’s leather covered caress
And give you my pain.
You drink of my tears
Spilled into a cup,
A sacrifice to your dark needs,
And toast your triumph.
My body lies drained
But my spirit is filled
As you wrap me in your arms so tight,
And say, “I love you.”
I live my life
For the moments in between
Start and stop
Hello and goodbye
Sunrise and sunset
Beginning and ending
Rise and fall
Searching and discovery
Up and down
In and out
New and old
I live my life
For the moments in between
Spent with you.
Give me today
So that I might wake up with your smile
And spend each moment
Enjoying all you have to give
Give me today
So that we can build upon the past
Growing as people
Sharing all that we already are.
Give me today
With all its joy, sorrow, laughter and tears
Challenges will arise
But two heads are better than one.
Give me today
And I promise to love you
Concentrating on the here and now
Simply making the most of what we have.
Give me today
And tomorrow will take care of itself.
