If you're my friend, you will immediately know what this page is about. Either hearing me talk about it, humming the theme tune, seen the pictures decorating my school books or all of the above. But for those who aren't blessed with the pleasure of knowing ALL about my obbsession, I'll just have to tell you! If you've never watched The Bill, then you don't know what you're missing! The Bill is a British police show. But let me tell you, this is not just any British police show, in my opinion, it is the BEST! I don't have to prove it, it's ratings speak for itself, as do the years it's been on television. 16 long-and-enjoyable-viewing years. The only show to have evr been on longer is UK soapie Coronation Street which has been on air for 30 odd years.The Bill is shown on ITV in the UK, and the ABC in Australia. It is set in the fictional blue collar East End suburb of Sun Hill, where the Canley, Cockroft and Jasmine Allen estates are full of crime, drugs, thugs and pubs. Not to say the crime only happens on the council housing estates, oh no, we sometimes get a glimpece of the posh places. I don't just watch for the show, I get a nice look at London, only the other day we took a nice look at some posh riverside apartments and the Millenium Dome was waving a hand saying "Here I am!" in the background. The show revolves around the 'Button Mob' (the Uniformed police officers) and the 'Brains Deparrtment' (CID). Recently in Australia the show took a bit of a twist, with the viewers getting a look into the officers lives. Something which The Bill is famous for never doing, and what made it different to most police shows. To quote a friend from The Bill Fan Forum: One thing we all agree on, whether you like old or new Bill, any Bill is better than no Bill.
There's a new book out about The Bill, called The Bill: The Inside Story, by Rachel Silver. I recommend it, I got it for Christmas and let me tell you, it's one cool book!
