  Lost Americana:

A Vision of rurual America

This body of work is part of a continueing series that I have been working on since the summer of '96. What has commonly become known as my barn pictures among people who have seen it grow and multiply. What started out as a simple color photography project has been transformed over the years to a quite sizable documentation of rurual structures.

My ultimate goal is to have this work eventualy published, in it's own book. Mostly because I feel that working on something like this for so long it deserves a climax, and giving prints to my friends isn't my idea of the end-all-be-all for this group of pictures. I also want to share them with others who either are not able to see this area of the country as often as the few who live there or to give those who long for the open land as oppossed to the urban towers something to remind them of an area that is becoming smaller each year.

At the heart of this project is a fundmendal of documentary work. I want to give these buildings a bit more than just a simple mug shot, but I've tried to throw in some emotion too. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I do taking them.
