My name is Suzan, and here is a brief introduction to me and my work:
I am a 25 year old an amateur artist living and working in Rossendale, Lancashire, UK.
I have a 2:2 BA (Hons) Degree in Art/Radio, Film and Television Studies.
I took my degree at Christ Church College, Canterbury, Kent and graduated in 1994.
Most of my work is 2D : paintings, sketches and photography; brightly coloured and often abstract.
I paint on hardboard or on canvas stretchers which I make myself, and I primarily work with acrylics.
I try to create vibrant, engaging images, Art for homes and workspaces rather than stuffy galleries.
Some of my work is inspired by the surrounding countryside, some comes from doodles
Some of my favourite works come from abstract collage work, but add a meaning if you want.
My own favourite artists include Kandinsky, Rothko, Klee, Mondrian, Monet and Matisse,
and hopefully some of these influences can be seen in my own work.
I find it quite difficult to give titles to my paintings as I prefer to let people take
their own meanings from my work. Sometimes other people come up with great titles
so I go with what they think a picture should be called rather than naming it myself.
I am currently without a studio and as a result my work rate has slowed a little
however I aim to update this site at least twice a year so please check back.
