Pink Petal, Pink Pink
A young woman lies in a room. A pink room, pink flesh, pink pink.
Niuliang explores the power of the colour pink. The picture is punctuated by dark places. Look where the darkness takes you. It creeps, threatening to overtake the pink.
The model in this picture is Fanny Xiang Niuliang, one of Niuliang's favourite models and his current wife. When "Pink Petal, Pink Pink" was created, Xiang was only 18 years old. She has since posed as the subject of several other of Niuliang's works, nine others of which appear in this publication.
