Stiff Upper Lisp

The Ladies Man brings another SNL character to the big screen.

Yeesh. What can you say about these things? Sooner or later “Saturday Night Live” will have to run out of sketches to inflict on the movies (who knows if anything will emerge from the “Dieter” morass Mike Myers got himself into) and leave us in peace, but until then Tim Meadows’ speech-impeded radio lothario is at least one of the least unlikable of the lot. Except for one really disgusting scene involving copraphagia (look it up), this is reasonably good-natured, lighthearted stuff, featuring Billy Dee Williams, outrageous British pratfall artist Lee Evans (There’s Something About Mary), and Will Ferrell as the leader of a Leon-haters club that does a goofy, well-choreographed dance routine. Meadows left “SNL” to costar in Michael Richards’ new NBC sitcom, which, if it’s as bad as all the tinkering and re-shot pilots could indicate, might soon leave him free to continue seeking the proper film outlet for his talents.
