The Games MIDI Music Page
Eat hot laser cookies, space dweeb!
Ah, video games...where would I be without you? I can remember
my first video game console, the illustrious Atari 2600. Back
then, that thing was considered a golden monkey on a stick, or so I thought. Soon, Defender and Raiders of the Lost Ark gave way to
Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt, ushering in the era of Nintendo.
From there, it was a short hop to Gameboy, SNES, and today,
Nintendo 64. Basically, only the latter three systems have had
games with music worth mentioning. I remember (or rather, cannot
forget) one Atari game that played "Turkey in the Straw" over
and over. That song still gives me the chills when I hear it...
Anyway, for the most part, early video games lacked music, but
there were a few NES games that tickled my fancy (or floated my
boat, if you prefer). More recent games have yielded some very
high caliber music as well, so I've collected a few that I hope
you'll enjoy. For more MIDIs, video game or otherwise, consult
your local Links Page.
- The 7th Guest (Darkness Theme) - Computer, 20 kb. Aside from Alone in the Dark and a little horrorshow called The Last Half of Darkness, The 7th Guest has the spookiest music I've ever heard in a game.
- The 7th Guest (Evil Theme) - Computer, 20 kb. Playing with dolls: now that's evil. Especially Barbie. Curse you, foul temptress!
- Actraiser (End Theme) - Super Nintendo, 12 kb. Woo hoo! Celebration of the gods! Let's break out those poison winged monkeys and rains of fire! Get biblical!
- Age of Empires (Theme #4) - Computer, 16 kb. Join the army, they said.
- Age of Empires (Theme #8) - Computer, 12 kb. See the world, they said.
- Arkanoid (Title Theme) - Arcade, 36.7 kb. Breakout, Brickles, whatever you want to call it: this game is some classic gaming fun.
- Bionic Commando (Level 1 Theme) - Nintendo, 24 kb. I predict one day this will be a world in which we all have grappling hooks for arms.
Bionic Commando (Level 8 Theme) - Nintendo, 28 kb. I bet he'd get along pretty well with Doctor Octopus.
- Bomberman 2 (Stage 1 Theme) - Super Nintendo, 16 kb. I firmly and honestly believe that the protagonist of the Bomberman series is related to Bomb Man from Megaman I. See the resemblance in the eyes, the similar footwear, the ubiquitous volatile and deadly high explosives? I know from whence I speak.
- Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest (Medley) - Nintendo, 101 kb. From the people who brought you Town Theme, now: Medley. Bask in its warm glowing warming glow.
Castlevania Adventure (Stage 1) - Gameboy, 25 kb. Yeah, he's got a whip all right, but he's no Dr. Jones.
Castlevania Adventure (Stage 4) - Gameboy, 22 kb. Dropped from his high school basketball team early on, Trevor "Jumps Like a Dying Paperweight" Belmont went on to pursue a career in staking, burning, and whipping things.
- Clash at Demonhead (First Theme) - Nintendo, 4 kb. Like Athena and Ninja Kid, Clash at Demonhead is one of those Nintendo games that just doesn't make any sense. Fun to play, though.
- Companions of Xanth (Ending Theme) - Computer, 8 kb. Ah, the mysteries of shareware.
- Companions of Xanth (Upbeat Theme) - Computer, 8 kb. Don't kick the bucket.
- Chrono Trigger (In the Tyrano's Lair) - Super Nintendo, 28 kb. Become a part of history in Chrono Trigger by helping to kill off the dinosaurs. Try the little green ones, they're minty!
- Chrono Trigger (Magus' Theme) - Super Nintendo, 24 kb. Evil so bad that it's good, by golly!
- Chrono Trigger (Spekkio's Theme) - Super Nintendo, 52 kb. He was fuzzy, and he had horns, and his arms were stubby and comical. Maybe he was some kind of disgruntled goat.
- Contra (Theme Medley) - Nintendo, 207 kb. Okay, I admit it: I need the 30 lives code to beat this game. Doesn't everyone?
- Day of the Tentacle (Nurse Edna's Theme) - Computer, 20 kb. Let's get down with our bad selves, let's bake us a cake of funky. Son of a gun, we'll have a good old time at the Edison house tonight! Shades of Danny Elfman, y'all!
- Day of the Tentacle (Title Theme) - Computer, 26.9 kb. The sequel to Maniac Mansion, this game was another winner by Lucasarts.
- Donkey Kong Country 2 (Forest Interlude) - Super Nintendo, 68 kb. Monkeys always get the coolest theme music.
- Dr. Mario (Chill Theme) - Nintendo, 19.2 kb. Nothing like a little music to chuck pills to... or something.
-
Duck Hunt (Skeet Shooter Theme) - Nintendo, 1 kb. Those pigeons never saw it coming...
E.V.O.: The Search for Eden (Iskutega's Theme) - Super Nintendo, 66 kb. Mmmm... pointy.
- Final Fantasy (Matoya's Cave Theme) - Nintendo, 20 kb. Whoa dude... those brooms are *dancing*...
- Final Fantasy 3 (Gogo's Theme) - Super Nintendo, 13.1 kb. Next week: Didi's Theme. *existential rimshot*
- Final Fantasy 3 (Mog's Theme) - Super Nintendo, 8.1 kb. Who likes Moogles? I do, I do!
- Final Fantasy 3 (Relm's Theme) - Super Nintendo, 9.2 kb. I've heard a couple versions of Relm's Theme, including one that has what sounds like a banjo in the background. This one is the closest to the actual game version.
- Final Fantasy 3 (Terra's Theme, Remix) - Super Nintendo, 33.8 kb. This is a very familiar theme from FF3, funkified. Different, but good.
- Final Fantasy 7 (Airship Theme) - Playstation, 41 kb. Big swords, rounded polygons, and more Chocobos than you can shake a stick at.
- Final Fantasy 7 (World Map Theme) - Playstation, 17.2 kb. As much as I would've liked it to be a Nintendo 64 game, FF7 is still the greatest Squaresoft game I've played so far.
- Final Fantasy Prelude (Remixed Version) - Various, 12 kb. Just the thing for all your Final Fantasy-themed dance parties.
- Final Fantasy Prelude (Piano Version) - Various, 12 kb. Simple and elegant. Elegant and simple. Stereo sound a must for this one.
- Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers (Bookshop/Gabriel's Theme) - Computer, 33 kb. For all those who believed it impossible (you know who you are), it's true: Tim Curry CAN do a Southern accent.
-
Gauntlet (Secret Room Theme) - Nintendo, 10 kb. Shhhhhhhhhh... secret.
Gauntlet (Theme A) - Nintendo, 15 kb. Is a little bit of treasure really worth so much undead-bashing? Oh my yes.
- Gauntlet (Theme C) - Nintendo, 6 kb. Aaa! Skeletons! Orcs! Ghosteses! Death! Run awaaaaaayyyy!
Gauntlet (Theme D) - Nintendo, 6 kb. Awww, what a cute little puddle of horribly-corrosive super-intelligent acid.
-
Gauntlet (Treasure Room Theme) - Nintendo, 3 kb. When a dispute over treasure rights arises during the game, be courteous. Allow your partner first pick of the booty and then shoot him in the back.
- Goonies 2 (Main Theme) - Nintendo, 7.8 kb. Mikey: hero of the game Goonies 2; uses yo-yo as weapon. Mike: hero of the game Startropics; uses yo-yo as weapon. Coincidence?
-
Gyruss (Main Theme) - Nintendo, 57 kb. This game would be pretty neato in 3D.
-
Ice Hockey (Main Theme) - Nintendo, 8 kb. The zambonis are a nice touch.
-
Kid Icarus (Stage 1 Theme) - Nintendo, 8 kb. True to the original myth of Icarus, this game is teeming with Eggplant Wizards.
Kung Fu (Main Theme) - Nintendo, 8 kb. If you're into minimalism, this song is for you.
- Kyrandia 2: The Hand of Fate (Zanthia's Theme) - Computer, 19.4 kb. This game has pirate poetry, an abominable snowman, and a giant hand. Just like on Jerry Springer.
- LeChuck's Revenge: The Secret of Monkey Island 2 (Dive Theme) - Computer, 17.1 kb. You can say what you like about the computer game industry, but, I'm sorry, the Monkey Island series just rules.
- LeChuck's Revenge: The Secret of Monkey Island 2 (Title Theme) - Computer, 26.4 kb. I think you'd be hard pressed to find people who *don't* enjoy the magical, almost whimsical humor of Monkey Island 2. The satire, the subtle intricacies... oh, and there's a spitting contest too.
- The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Title Theme Remix) - Gameboy, 19.2 kb. I originally thought this came from Zelda 64, but I was informed recently that it's just a hyped-up version of TLOZ:LA. Ah well.
Lemmings (Super Lemmings Medley) - Computer, 130 kb. The greatest Lemmings hits ever recorded, available now together on 2 tapes or 2 CDs. Order today!
- Little Nemo, the Dream Master (Stage 1: Mushroom Forest) - Nintendo, 8 kb. I am your frog, your mole, your gorilla overlord. Kneel and pay tribute!
- Little Nemo, the Dream Master (Stage 4: Nighttime Ocean) - Nintendo, 8 kb. This game is guaranteed by Winsor McKay: "If you don't like it, you can go and die like I did."
- Little Nemo, the Dream Master (Stage 6: Climbing the Night Sky) - Nintendo, 8 kb. Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees! Really!
- Little Nemo, the Dream Master (Title Theme) - Nintendo, 8 kb. I dream of clowns and candy and animals that I wear. Lo, I am king of my bedclothes.
- The Lost Vikings (Egyptian Theme) - Super Nintendo, 14.5 kb. This is one of the greatest video games ever created. Having awesome music doesn't hurt either.
- The Lost Vikings (Spaceship Theme) - Super Nintendo, 26 kb. You know, this game begins and ends with the same music. Kinda appropos, I think.
- The Magic of Scheherazade (Sabaron's Theme) - Nintendo, 52 kb. Another of the finest Nintendo has to offer. Don't you even think of bringing that Alex-Kidd-in-Miracle-World-weak-stuff around here.
-
Marble Madness (Level 0 Theme) - Nintendo, 3 kb. Evilhard game.
-
Marble Madness (Level 1 Theme) - Nintendo, 5 kb. Inexplicably compelling game.
-
Marble Madness (Level 4 Theme) - Nintendo, 6 kb. Evilhard game + inexplicably compelling game = countless hours down the drain and a pathological fear of all things marble
- Mario 64 (Water Theme) - Nintendo 64, 32 kb. Join Mario on his latest adventure as he unwittingly offends a Mafia crime boss and is sent to sleep with the fishies.
- Megaman (Elecman's Theme) - Nintendo, 5.37 kb. Zzzzzzap, zzzzap!
- Megaman 2 (Crashman's Theme) - Nintendo, 6.2 kb. Call me crazy, but those Crash Bombs...? I thought the explosions looked like shaving cream. Oh well.
-
Megaman 3 (Hardman's Theme) - Nintendo, 33 kb. *smirk*
- Megaman 3 (Magnetman's Theme) - Nintendo, 10.9 kb. I used this music in my game for my Senior Project... which is another story altogether.
- Megaman 3 (Magnetman's Theme, Funky Fresh Dance Party Disco Retro Remix) - Nintendo, 12 kb. Get busy, it's your birthday.
- Metroid (Title Screen) - Nintendo, 12.6 kb. I used to spend hours at a time on this game, trying to find those elusive Energy Tanks. Turn up the bass for this one.
- Ogre Battle (Do or Die: Boss Theme/Victory Fanfare) - Super Nintendo, 38 kb. And now, to kill you. There may be a slight ringing in your ears. Fortunately, you'll be nowhere near them.
- Ogre Battle (Thunder Theme) - Super Nintendo, 40 kb. If the other kids said you were too small and never let you join their glorious armies of destruction, this is your chance to make them pay.
-
Pipe Dream (Theme A) - Nintendo, 7 kb. I guess this is meant to represent the sort of dreams plumbers have... or bottles of Draino.
-
River City Ransom (Main Theme) - Nintendo, 36 kb. Beat up the bullies and take their lunch money for a change.
-
Wrecking Crew (Main Theme) - Nintendo, 26 kb. Smashy smashy!
-
Rygar (Catacombs Theme) - Nintendo, 25 kb. It's never exactly clear why you have to beat up a giant spider in its subterranean lair, but there's probably a good reason.
- Rygar (Medley) - Nintendo, 44 kb. An adventurous and well done medley of the most prominent themes in the game. Liiiiiiiiiiistennnnnnnnnnn.
- Rygar (Mountain Theme) - Nintendo, 10 kb. Am I crazy, or is there a little snippet of Brahms's Lullaby in there?
- Rygar (Overhead World Theme) - Nintendo, 15 kb. Definitely a high-endurance game, Rygar. Unlimited continues, but no way to save means you've got to play it cover-to-cover in one sitting, or leave it on pause overnight and hope your cat doesn't come by and step on the controls.
-
Rygar (Wiseman's Theme) - Nintendo, 2 kb. If he's so wise then what happened to his shirt?
- Sam and Max Hit the Road (Highway Surfing) - Computer, 36 kb. Many highway signs perished in the making of Sam and Max Hit the Road. They will not be missed.
- Sam and Max Hit the Road (Snuckey's Theme #7) - Computer, 19 kb. For talking-animal craziness, you can't beat Sam and Max.
- Sam and Max Hit the Road (Title Theme) - Computer, 24 kb. Sam wears the clothes.
-
Secret of Mana (Kakkara Town Theme) - Super Nintendo, 18 kb. Oh, sure, they're happy now, but wait until that water turns to fire. They won't be dancing so much then, will they?
-
Soul Blazer (Leo's Painting) - Super Nintendo, 15 kb. Any place with really fast-moving clouds and stylish carpetted walkways can't be all bad.
-
Soul Blazer (The Underground) - Super Nintendo, 32 kb. It looks more like the middle of a river than underground, but we'll forgive them.
- Star Fox (End Credits Theme) - Super Nintendo, 39 kb. Forget the frog, the rabbit, the bird. Just let them burn. Let them ALL burn. Muhahahaha!
-
Star Tropics (Miracola Theme) - Nintendo, 10 kb. Good old yo-yo. Nothing beats that.
- Star Tropics (Overworld Theme) - Nintendo, 16 kb. Aaaa! Aliens invade a whimsical, Carribean island tableau! Alert Ted Koppel!
- Star Tropics (Underground Theme) - Nintendo, 3 kb. Do me so far, do me?
- Super Street Fighter 2 (Dhalsim's Theme) - Super Nintendo, 5.8 kb. Dhalsim's stage music is as annoying as Alvin and the Chipmunks on speed in the actual game, but with those crazy elephant sound effects eliminated it's actually pretty good.
- Tetris (Theme A) - Nintendo, 20.7 kb. You'd better have a fair amount of free memory when you run this MIDI, or else it's gonna slooooooooowwwww down in some places. I kid yez not.
- Tetris (Theme B) - Nintendo, 24 kb. Well, you know the problems I've had dropping blocks. Dude, you've got some serious-ass block dropping problems.
- Tetrisphere (Martist) - N64, 41 kb. Square blocks, round world, big dynamite.
-
Tie Fighter (Medley) - Computer, 8 kb. Most impressive.
- Tie Fighter (Training Pod Theme) - Computer, 11.3 kb. If you've ever wanted to be a ruthless killing machine under the command of the insidious Emperor and his band of helmeted lackeys, this game can grant your wish.
- Warcraft 2: The Tides of Darkness (Human Theme #3) - Computer, 34.7 kb. I stopped playing this game because even my younger brother could beat me at it (go ahead, laugh it up). Nevertheless, I still like the music.
- X-Wing (Outpost Cutscene Theme) - Computer, 7.5 kb. If you've ever wanted to be a dashing freedom fighter, battling the forces of evil and blasting apart helpless storage containers, this game can grant your wish.
