Opposing Mirrors

by David Cohen

Opposing Mirrors

Looking into facing mirrors
for the trick of infinity
I would move my body

try to displace
the oppressive singular
likeness of myself

that obscured
the billion receding images
queued behind.

Skulking up to the frame
I’d peer around
all cloak and dagger

a tick too late
to precede myself
finding only me.

Or look at this lovely fish.
