The Reading Garden - Billy Shelton

Important notice: All poems have been submitted by the author.

Author: Billy Shelton

Through the door she walked and in an instant their eyes touched

Then the moment was gone only to be replayed over and over in their minds

How could it be

What did you see

Are you afraid

Their lips touched in a brief gentle kiss

But souls were set on fire

What did you feel

Was it real

Are you afraid

The room alights descended upon by a spring day

And the sun burns off the early morning fog

Was she really there

Did you really care

Are you afraid

Now she stands before you in summertime white

And her eyes sparkled the eyes you were afraid to meet with your own

She will never cry

It will never die

But are you afraid
