Author: Carol Resch

Any day now I will fly away.

When the great morning has come, I will fly away.

Mother and daughter hovered over the river bank.

One was spirit and one was air.

They were all eternity;

and the mother was telling the daughter about life.

With wing-like arm

clasping the shoulders of the earth child, the mother said,

"Take a journey with me, Daughter, I will hold you

tightly as we fly the streams of colorful ocean.

I will show you the colors that live,

where I am.

You will see them as I see them."

With these words the pair ascended,

and the oceans of jeweled-wave colors flowed under them,

heavily pulsating with the moving, living colors,

undulating, parallel lines, all,

for as far as one could see, as they were flying.

They were delighted in the beauty,

knowing it was heavenly and eternal.

It was surely a gift the mother had given the child

still earthbound;

she could put the colors onto paper much as the mother

lived the colors.

The daughter was so full and so content;

peaceful and satisfied as once she had been nursing at the

same breast as a newborn babe.

Then once again the mother gave as the daughter said,

"Mother, look at the rising rainbow-colored bird!

See how the Phoenix flies and shimmers his tail

to make the river of colors, bright and flowing!

Are there more like this where you are?"

"Oh, Yes, my child, and many, many more;

I will show them to you,"

said the wise Spirit Mother.

Soon afterward, the daughter left her

beautiful Mother

temporarily in the spirit world

To began her journey into the colors of the earth;

she was fulfilling the promise

she had made to paint the beauty surrounding her,

knowing that

the beauty from within lives,

and is spirit inspired.
