Parental Ambush

a.k.a. "Probably Not The Best Idea to Do That."

"If my parents lived with me now, I'd get even. I'd make them sleep in separate bedrooms. My mother would say, "What? Are you crazy? I've been sleeping with this man for years." I'd say, "Look, I don't care what you do on the outside. But when you're in my house..." -Elayne Boosler
He wants to go to some concert he heard about on the radio, but then he realized that "oh, that's probably on a weekend." I would kind of have liked to go- wish he hadn't mentioned that, because then we were both bummed out. But again, what am I supposed to do about this? The situation's not going to change.

Friday mornings are rather sad for us...knowing (usually) we won't see each other for a few days. Lots of "I love you's" and my stalling around before going to class.

Did my usual chat with Sarah between classes, and apparently she'd been on IRC and asked Remington if he had a message to send to me. He'd said "definitely", and then sent me our little emoticon indicating a big kiss. Awwwww. She went to a concert with Blaise last night, they've exchanged digits, she had a blind date with a friend of Mike's and he's now calling her, she's inundated with guys and now flipping out about it...unlike me, she doesn't like the idea of multiple dating.

On IRC that afternoon he'd been pondering going to the next IRC fest at Sudwerk's (tonight)- I'd mentioned it to him, but he hadn't wanted to go. But apparently he'd changed his mind. I said well, you can either have a quiet dinner with your girlfriends, or watch Sarah and Blaise and Leng have a drinking contest. He said he wanted to do both, but the first was more of a priority...we eventually arranged to stop off at Sudwerk's after dinner.

After my last meeting of seele (other than our party/potluck thing on the 17th, which Remington now wants to go to), they picked me up. Dinner went well...triple hand holding again. Zoe felt sorry for me that I have to go home for break and Remington and I wouldn't get to see each other/spend the night for a week. Plus, she wanted me to come visit her in Santa Cruz and hang out. So she, well, oddly enough, came up with this idea: he and I go out to SC and spend the night at her place, her on the couch, and then we'd all hang out the next day. I don't think the parents will let me (God, I hate having to ask permission!), but it's a sweet (and yes, weird) offer.

Went off to Sudwerk en masse...which I think really weirded out Sarah, as she was looking bug-eyed at me across the table. Our three-way hand-holding thing is very strange to her, I'll bet...I'll hear about this later, I'm sure. She and Blaise were all chummy, even going to the bathroom at the same time. How cute.

Zoe did say that I could call them if my parents really drove me nuts this weekend...nice offer, but I don't plan on doing so. I had to get home around 8, when Mom and Dad were supposed to arrive. I'd been downloading Star Wars stuff all day, and Remington wanted to go see it on my computer. So I brought them up to look at it, and then my parents arrived...they wanted to run out the door, but I got this crazy idea of "well, they're both here, maybe I should just do the introductions now." My parents are way better about letting me go somewhere if they know who I'd be staying with, so I figured they should meet Zoe also if this had any chance of working out.

So I hauled 'em downstairs and introduced everyone to everyone...which seemed to go okay...said Zoe was "a friend of Remington's." I wondered if Mom would remember that his other girlfriend's name was Zoe, but apparently she didn't. They left after a bit, then we left too.

Right before I went to bed that night I said who she was to Mom...she was dead quiet and wouldn't look at me for like thirty seconds. She said that Dad had been wondering who the other girl was and why she was there. She also said some things that weren't very nice- about how Remington was "flaunting" her in front of them- um, not true, that's um, my fault. And that "does he just get some sort of pleasure from having two girls like him? Is that why he has two girlfriends?" Um, I don't know... well, um, not that great going, I guess. I didn't get up the nerve to mention spending time in Santa Cruz then...I just couldn't say it after that. I dread telling them about this when I see or talk to the both of them.
