9/16- Shirtless Hunks

My Soap-Operatic Life

Ooooeee, I feel hot. =) But I'll get to why later.

1st stop of the day: Kodak Hula Show. Lovely dancing, some of which I did (I love when they let the audience do a dance. I'd take up the hula if I could get some lessons in CA.) Got another lei from a cute guy (I sat in front). =)

Also spent some $- Mom begged me to buy her a flower lie ($5, which she won't wear now- go figure), also got her a necklace (3 for $5). And I bought two more postcards (one that says "I found a rich guy and I'm not coming back", featuring a monkey with a cigar. It's going on my wall), 4 pairs of earrings and a bracelet (fits my ankle though) for realy cheap- 2 of the earrings and bracelet were $1! Wow!

After lunch at Jack in the Crack (the one place we could park downtown- we found a garage that charges $2 per 20 minutes. My god!), we went to the parents' choice of the U.S.S. Arizona memorial. Why this is a tourist attraction I really don't know, it's not like there's a lot there to see and do. I think it's because that memorial is interestingly shaped and out on the water. Oh well, it was a short visit, thank God. The other places Mom wants to see are all-day trips of boredom- she wants to go to a museum, drive the entire island, see some waterfalls, it's some all day thing every day. (I can see my dreams of shopping and snorkeling disappearing.)

I gotta love any store that gives you jewelry on the way in (chains of shells). Next came Hilo Hattie's, the most famous Hawaiian store. TONS of what they call "alohawear" (shirts, muumuus, anything with Hawaiian fabric), plus jewelry, food, & funky little gifts. Mom and I spent (according to Dad) more than 2 hours trying on dresses. I wound up getting a blue dress and black T-shirt (says Aloha), plus gorgeous flower earrings, 2 fabulous hair clips (not even barrettes- I slipped them in and they stayed ALL night, even in the wind! Maybe I should stock up?). Also got Anna her gift. There's always a fly in the ointmint though, and ours was Dad. Cranky, whiny Dad threw a shit fit about shopping. Well a. he should know what to expect by now with us, and b. why didn't he just ask to be dropped off at home? I'm a firm believer that dragging a man clothes-shopping is cruelty to animals. BAD idea. I don't know why Mom continues to do it.

Tonight we went to a (free) Polynesian revue at the Sheraton- fabulous show, I"d highly reccomend it. Great dancing. There was even a number done for a dead former performer that totally reminded me of my fiction story- it would fit in there, I think I should use it sometime.

And did I mention that there were six shirtless hunks in the show? Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

It gets better: Like the Kodak show, they had (a very brief) lessons for audience members- only they'd darkened the room, so they just pulled people out of the audience.

Including me. =) I got tapped on the shoulder, and one of the shirtless hunks was there. How did they know? He held my hand pretty much all the time there- bringing me up to the stage, waiting to go- I think he was waiting so we'd be the last up there- I shook my butt to the entire room, but who cared? Mmmm. I swear, it was a Baby & Johnny moment on the stage. (Dirty Dancing reference there if you didn't get it) Mmmm. Sadly, I couldn't even identify the object of my lust afterwards (chalk it up to being horny and hyper?). But oh well, not as if I could take him home tonight or anything. Demma, Anna, y'all wanted me to find a Hawaiian hunk- this is my story.
