"Though true love seems unattainable, this doesn't deter most of these characters from its hopeless pursuit, like the rest of us, they're impelled by instinct." -Douglas S. BaraschFriday night was okay, not as exciting as I had expected...went over to the boys' and ate cookies and blasted music, went to Safeway and Fry's and Sarah's place (to play with her cats), and watched Mercury Rising (boring). And Mike got a speeding ticket on our way home (for doing 47 in a 30 zone). He wasn't a lot of fun after that, as you can imagine.
So far being home has been fine, going well, no real yelling, although Mom insisted on cleaning my place (despite my saying not to, naturally). Dad has said that either he'll make me a. work my ass off, or b. fingers to the bone, putting up the train stuff around the tree. And he's said a bunch of times that 'you have to help' and 'show some initiative' (like I want to do this stuff? Ha). No shit, Sherlock, especially after you said it four times before I got to the house. And when I've checked the Internet, I've had to sneak around. Heck, I went on the computer to type this up (NOT on the Internet), he walked in and said, "Caught ya!" I said "What, I'm not allowed to use it?" Especially when my computer is out of action, what does he expect out of me? (Yes, I'm slightly annoyed, however did you guess?) On the family front, there's a big ol' dinner tonight for Uncle Bruce coming home (Mom doing all the work. Whoopee), and ALL the family will be there. Even (and here's the surprise) my long-lost cousin Janelle, who I haven't seen since 91, is in town for like a day or so (as long as she can stand them I guess). And the MIA Laurie and Amanda- Mom said the other day that Laurie and Auntie Dolores were together all day and didn't kill each other... what a shock! Maybe things are improving after all in life...family feuds dying out, Sarah's marriage breaking up, me, well, you know ... let's hope 1999 is a year of less crisises. I'd like that.
As for the well, you know part... well, I'm dreading tonight for reasons I'm sure you can guess. The inevitable stupid question. AGAIN. Ugh! I don't want to tell them I have a date or any detailed info about him. I don't wanna hear the ragging. NO THANK YOU. And if anyone asks me if I'm engaged AGAIN I'm gonna scream. Mom squealed to Dad and last night he's all "I hear you have a date." Uh, yeah... Then he said something that cracked me up inwardly- "What's this boy's name?" Hahahahahahahah... uh, little do you know you're a bit off there, Dad. Ouch. Dad made me call Grandma today and neither of us had anything to say, she kept asking me "So, what's new?", drove me nuts, I kept saying "Nothing's new" (what can I tell her is "new" that wouldn't frighten her?), felt like I was supposed to keep pulling rabbits out of my bloody hat. Finally I caved and mentioned the date, but fortunately she didn't want personal info.
Speaking of Remington, I haven't heard from him since I came back (snuck around and checked e-mail last night and this a.m.), I kinda expected that since I said that I can't check it as much as normal, but I'm still kinda annoyed...isn't that just the cutest? Stop it, Jen.
I got a few more e-mails from him that I didn't get put up before I left. I will attempt now from what I printed off to do this.
Heh, even Livermore itself turned out not to be where I thought... I thought it was down by Patterson, so that's even easier. :)

> Honestly, I don't remember what Grandpa's voice sounded like, so I can't tell you. It's been a while since I saw the cartoon.
I just remember his voice saying, "fif-teen!!!" this and that. every episode at some point, he'd done something for fif-teen!! years, or had to walk fif-teen!! miles uphill, in the snow.

I took one'a them. And I dated a film major forever, and picked stuff up by osmosis. :)
>Then again, I spent most of it trying to recall what I'd done in my eighth grade report on Elizabeth, thinking stuff like "I thought she and Dudley's affair went on for a lot longer than that.", etc. So what do I know?
Possibly as much as, or more than, the producer, given the average quality of biographical films...
>>Did it have John Dee in it? :)
>Uh, who? Don't recall that name.
I was just discussing him, as the guy who had a translation of the Necronomicon, who was QE's astrologer.
>>One I heard about was called A Simple Plan, which one reviewer liked and another didn't, but it sounded sort of film noir, and I tend to like that.
>Haven't heard of it.
I was hanging around in the scifi bookstore tonight, and a bunch of the staff were excited about it because some guy named Sam Raimi directed it.

I've heard mostly lame, but, still... It would be a funny thing to be able to say we did, in the newsgroup writeup. Or, we could say that the evil aliens forced us to watch it. :)
>>And I haven't seen the new Star Trek yet...
>Me neither.
Is that something you'd like to see, though?

I believe that's the one.

I know many of them too. But if you sit down and talk with them long enough, there's still some underlying sense mixed in with the ranting and babbling. It's most strange.

Well, yes, sort of. It's from an episode of 'Mad About You', at the funeral for some relative of Paul's, when they're discussing what on earth 'HOO MOOS' could mean.

Oh, well, that I do remember in the movie.
>>>Elizabeth sounded neat, was it good? >>It was okay...I can't really explain why I'm just eh on it...

Well, that was more techie stuff that bugged me, I can't say why the plot wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Well, other than my having to ask my friend (who was seeing it for the second time) what was going on a lot. "Why is that girl screaming?" "Why is she pissed off at him?", etc.

William Sleator, I think.
Since I forgot to get this e-mail forwarded, the home one is gr3ruth@pacbell.net, I do check it but not as often as this one... do you need the home # just in case of anything? (I'll check this around nineish before I go, or just answer to parents' e-mail)

There you go again, a perfect description of why it bugged you. You need to give your explicatory abilities more credit.

I've been avoiding reading reviews. I just know they'll give away the plot on me.

You know, the easy thing to do would be to get a telnet program and read this e-mail from home... The same as I manage to read my @ucdavis from Chicago, my dad's, even France... I'd be more than happy to show you how. Having spare phone numbers never hurts.

Okay then. I'm the greatest! (Ryan's little braggy thing) (A guy on newsgroup who uses these "I'm the greatest!" sig files. Thinks he's the shit.)

Well, this movie seemed to be more into the Pope and the Virgin Mary. The traditional ones (sigh).

Well, true. But there's not that much plot to give away after you've read a bunch of magazines/newspapers (while procrastinating) that all say the same thing. "The odd movies suck."

Ouch.
It's on Sunday nights, which is why I tend to forget that it's on (8:30), usually when I'm coming back from somewhere on the weekend. I just recently started watching it again (started seeing it before school started and I wasn't either in the car or frantically doing homework at that time) and still like it.

I have it on here and don't understand a *&^$%@# word of it! As for the parents' computer, I am forbidden to add another program/download anything to it, as it hit its limit. Or so Dad claims.

My comments on here: Dated a film major forever? Ouch. (Not to mention the ex-wife who dreamed of being a coroner? Ewwwwwwwwwwww cubed!
Okay, I just had to get that out. But shit, forever versus my revolving door crap... ouch again.
Yes, I am insecure. Whyever do you ask!?
More later...
The dinner went well, everyone got along (!!!), with a few snarky comments from Laurie and Ron towards each other. Justin's gotten huge. That's it.
