Okay, Mom has been nosing around all night for dish on Remington (hence why I call her "nosy", I even told her she was being nosy and she got all offended), me trying to not say a lot, but blabbing when worn down, etc... I really found this strange of her, snooping for all this info when she doesn't need to know it. It's not as if we've seen each other for very long here, sheesh! (Only seen each other twice!) Yet she's so damn persistent...I don't recall her doing that with the guys she knows that I've dated. Then again, she'd met all of them before I dated 'em, I thought that might have been it.
Well, I finally asked why she was being so snoopy here, and she said that "well, since you're in college, with dating, things are probably going to be different than the guys you saw in high school, things are likely to be more..."
I inserted here "Temporary?"
"Long-lasting."
Well, there's a switch, I thought.
Basically, she's been listening to Les and Uncle Bruce too much too! That she thinks things are going to get serious here. "No, they're not, Mom," I said about four times or so, before finally having to resort to saying why that is..."He's dating other people too." This didn't seem to affect her much (i.e. didn't flip out, phew), as I said "Well, I really don't think it's going to, he said as much before we met," etc. I think she thinks that might change ("I mean, he didn't know that you liked him, that was a surprise to him, right?"), but I said "Well, I'm going on that, I'm gonna be cautious, I'm gonna try to not get attached and have a good time, okay? Things aren't likely to go the way you think they will." (Then again, things don't go the way I think they will either! Wonder who's going to be right here?!?)
Anyway, we got into this discussion on how I don't really understand their 3 a.m. thing, when it seems more sensible to me to leave later (say, 5 a.m.) when there's less cars, more time to sober up, etc., especially when I don't think I'm gonna get into trouble there anyway. (She seemed to think we'd be in an orgy or something. Geez, who does she think I am, Chelsea? I'm not that bad yet. I barely know him, like that would be a good idea?) I told her enough times that I wasn't going to get into trouble, and this went well enough with her that she decided this should be discussed with Dad... and the time got lowered to 4:30 a.m.! Woo hoo! They have improved. I e-mailed Remington with that (he hadn't responded to my other one yet, sigh). So I'm pleased. =)
