During his years at the Academy of Fine Arts, a young Schiele had many confrontations with his
overly academic & conservative professor, Christian Griepenkerl, who once told Schiele, "The Devil must have
shat you into my class."

Schiele's last words (as reported by his sister-in-law) were, "The war is over--and I must go. Let them exhibit my paintings in all the museums of the world!"
