Three quilters were out shopping on a hot day and got quite thirsty. They pass a busy bar and go in to get a drink but have no money. One of the quilters comes up with an idea that she thinks might work. She goes in alone telling the others that if her idea works they can all get free drinks. She goes in and orders her drink. When she finish, the bartender gives her the tab. The quilter says, "But I already paid for the drink". The bartender says, "I'm terribly sorry but it's really busy in here and I must have forgotten". The quilter goes out and tells the other two what happend. The second goes in next, orders her drink and then informs the bartender that she had already paid when the he asks for money. Again the bartender apologizes. Finally, the third goes in and orders her drink. Again the bartender gives her the tab and the quilter tells him, "I paid you when I ordered the drink". "I'm terribly sorry," says the bartender, "I don't know what's wrong with me today. Your the third person that I've done this too." "Thats okay sir," says the quilter, "but I am in a terrible hurry. Just give me my change for the $20 I gave you and I'll be on my way" |
