Jean Gilbert Quilting came about when Barbara and I became aware that it was costing us a tidy sum getting our quilt tops machine quilted. We were making twenty to twenty-five quilts a year and nothing smaller then a queen size; most of them in the king size range! We were going in debt just having them quilted, not to mention the how much was being spenton fabric! So after much discussion and investigation about quilting machines, we purchased one for ourselves. We justified its acquisition by how much moneys would be saved quilting our own quilts. Initially it worked very well. Make a quilt top, quilt it. Make a quilt top, quilt it. I think that routine lasted maybe a week or so. Then came a friend a calling, and then another, and another. And then a friend of a friend and so forth and so forth. Little did we know how quickly ward of mouth travels! Before we knew it, we were Jean Gilbert Quilting.
