Remarkable Artists

There are so many music artists that I love that I couldn't possibly include all of them on my site, so I decided to pay attention to those that I am currently interested in and aren't heavily represented on the web at this time. I would love to put up a page for David Bowie, Pink Floyd and a lot of others, but there is so much already out there that its almost mind boggling. There is such a thing as too much.

Imani Coppola

Imani Coppola  This woman is pure genius as far as I am concerned. She is from Long Island, New York and grew up in a musically talented family. She is very refreshing and her music is smart and upbeat. You can't help but want to move and sing along as you listen to her first release. She hasn't gotten much radio play, but don't let that stop you from enjoying the pleasure of listening to her. She plays the violin in almost all her songs, but it's nothing like what you'd expect. She mixes funk, rap and pop together with a new twist. "Legend of a Cowgirl", her current single is about a woman's freedom to experiment sexually and take charge of her own life. She isn't afraid to touch on serious topics, but knows how to have fun with them. If you wanna know more about her, visit her official site at http://www.imani-coppola.com

Edwyn Collins

Edwyn Collins  Take David Bowie's voice, lounge retro and a 90's edge and mix 'em together. What you come out with is Edwyn Collins. Perhaps you have heard of him before. He had a hit back in 94 with "Never Known A Girl Like You Before". His new CD, "I'm Not Following You" is oh, so different. You can't help but believe that this man belongs on stage in Vegas. If you compare David Bowie & Edwyn Collins, you would swear that that deep, almost raspy voice was one in the same, but don't get the two confused. They are worlds apart from each other. "The Magic Piper" makes you wanna run out and buy a pair of GoGo Boots. Edwyin Collins embraces the retro movement with so much force, he is almost making fun of it . Taja Sevelle

Taja Sevelle  Taja Sevelle pretty much looks just like she sounds. She is a tiny, pixie-ish woman with thin bones, but you just know that she carries herself as if she was 7 feet tall. Her voice is like that. On one song, she sings with a tine, crystaline voice that may remind you of fragile icicles, in the next one, she will belt out a deep soulful cry. Her range is incredible and her flexibility with style is amazing. Lyrics like "I had a dream that I lived next door to me" in the song, "I & I". Her previous albul, which I didn't care for, was obviously just a warm up. She obviously decided to do away with conforming to the Pop industry's standards and move on to a more original style. Kudos for her and I know I am looking forward to her next endevor. for more info on Taja Sevelle, go to http://www.newyorkshops.com/taja.

Fun Lovin' Criminals

Fun Lovin' Criminals  OK, OK, I know, they are a bunch of little pot-head hoodies, but they are good. The Scooby Snack song, a classic. Once again reminding us exactly how burnt Shaggy was. I mean he said "zoinks!", for Christ's Sakes! But all joking aside, if you get the chance, listen to the other tracks on this one. They have blended funk and rap together seamlessly, and if you don't give 'em a chance, you have no clue on what you are missing out on. These guys are truly talented and know how to groove.
