Poet's task is to write that which haunts us there is both good haunting and bad haunting. I prefer poems which are anecdotal. (impression of contemporary poetry) It is mostly forgettable. There's damn little knock your socks off lines or images. The analogy that works for me is contemporary poets remind me so much of contemporary professional golfers. Their approach, swing, and distance are so much the same they all seem to have had the same teacher.
