What's going on? Very easy, you just entered AHE's Site Computer Graphics and Computer Animation section. Here you will see a compilation of images of designs I have created during the time I've been playing around with this computer graphics and design thingie. Certainly an interesting but SO difficult matter... |

What is synthesis image? Where and when can we locate its origin? They are very intriguing questions, which I'd like to have exact answers for... But maybe we can get a general overview of the "problem". Synthesis image (or Computer Graphics) could be defined as the art of recreating things which don't exist; this implies, in certain way, "giving life", and that's what, in many occasions, the graphic artist does. ![]() |

He/She has to represent, by using
the available tools, which in this case are the computer and the design and render program,
a concise scene. This is not an easy task most of the times. It requires, always that you
want to do something of certain quality and taste, quite a big imagination and a great
abstraction capacity, abilities I'd like to have sharper :-) . It's about creating from
the emptyness an environment that looks real, although it doesn't exist, and even though
the spectator knows it; one of the most important things is possibly that is comes out
convincing. And that's something quite hard to achieve, though any graphic artist who is
reading these words will know how gratifying is to end an animation or even a specially
tough image...

The beginnings of synthesis image are beyond my knowledge, but you will agree with me that there is a KEY point in all this thing: The film TRON. This brings nostalgic memories to my mind, but putting them aside, TRON was a movie that opened a new era in Computer Graphics... Most of the story develops inside a supercomputer, with an extensive use of synthetic image... Of course, if you have a detailed look at it, you can notice they commited certain little errors here and there, but it's not necessary that I mention it, specially knowing that it was done in 1.982; to tell you the truth, I would have liked being there with the artists while they did the animations... :-) |
