in depth look at poem: Originally this poem was going
to be about me and how someone can depend on me but the
more I wrote the more I realized that I came awful
short of what I was writing. I realized that the only
shoulders that can do what I was writing were Jesus'
shoulders. This poem is a very inspiring one if you
pay attention to what is said. I entered this poem into
a poetry contest on November
8, 1997. It was selected to be published in the National Library
of Poetry's upcoming anthology The Sounds of Silence and will
also be on a cassette tape (with mine being 1 of 11 poems on it) with
poetry on it called The Sound Of Poetry.
Jesus' shoulders
When you feel sad
and want to burst out in tears
come, cry on these shoulders
When you feel tired
from the trials of life
come, rest on these shoulders
When you feel sick
and there is no cure
come, find healing on these shoulders
When you feel thirsty
from the desert of life
come, find water on these shoulders
When you feel lonely
and seem to have no friend
come, find friendship on these shoulders
