Sixteenth Century BASIC

Why should we forsake basic simply on the grounds that it produces totally unreadable programs and hard-code goto logic, now perhaps english majors can get invovled... if we can only show them what is in store for them...i

X If thou art greater than thee then thou shalt let x become
       equivalent to XVII.
XX surely thou printest x, for else thou dost not knowe its value?
XXX for thy x begineth at I and counteth until thou reachest X; yea, by
       ones shalt thou count.
XL Next x anon.
L Endeth thy program; for yea and verily, I do decalre that I
       have finished my task.

I am still interested in writting a compiler for this *&^#%@#@# langauage, It has to be better than pascal (note the lower case 'p' in pascal) English students can learn how to program using Ham-omelette or is that Hamlet? Anyway, write me a letter as to your implementation of this language
