Still Newlyweds

Okay, I know I said I wasn't going to be posting much, but here I am anyhow.

It's our anniversary today. A year ago, I was pregnant with Genny (okay, very pregnant) and we queued up the vcr with lots of long movies for Russell to watch because we couldn't really swing a honeymoon.

This year Robin and Ken watched the kids for us and we spent 24 hours alone together. And much like last year, we didn't do much of anything except hang out, although this year we did have one of those soup bowl-sized margaritas at Chevy's, whereas last year, I had half a glass of champagne. Although, this year we hung out at the Hilton. We ordered movies at the hotel and we stuffed ourselves at the most delicious Indian buffet ever. Thank god, most everything was vegetables!

We laid around the hotel a little, until we realized we hadn't packed dress clothes for dinner for me, so we went to Ross and bought me some. That's when we walked over to Chevy's from the hotel and split a dinner and had margaritas. What was funny, was that although Chevy's was totally packed with people, including every high school senior in town (prom), we were both commenting on how quiet dinner was -- just him and me, holding hands and sipping margaritas.

I don't think that margaritas should be that good, honestly. I think they should taste bad so you don't want to drink the whole thing, because I drink so little I'm a lightweight and I didn't appreciate my mild hangover this morning.

In other news...

Details about the job... It pays what we hoped for as a minimum and they've got excellent benefits -- almost comparable to the university benefits I've got, so losing those won't hurt too much, although, I'm finding I feel a longing about my job, now that I know I won't have it.

They will pay all relocation costs. They will pay for the truck to drive up to our duplex, pack all our crap in boxes and ferret it all away to our new lives. I can merely orchestrate. More than likely, I'll be the frizzy-haired weirdo writing, "kitchen" or "mbedroom" on boxes in an attempt to organize it before they get to that ferreting thing. After years of having to borrow friends' trucks and backs, this ranges on a spiritual epiphany for me. I still have occasional pain in the ligaments in my right arm from the move we made three years ago and I did NOT do the heavy lifting!

Back to hotel costs...If we can't find a house right away, we can get up to a month of hotel time paid for. They will pay for a house hunting trip or two and will reimburse us for all expenses related to that. They will also give him half a month's salary to help get us all moved in, to be paid the Friday after he starts.

And there's the $1000 in stocks they're giving him for signing with them.

I've already looked into community college classes and temp agencies. I can do both. The most limiting thing is the lack of a second car. Childcare is already available and he can get childcare for Genny on-site. Where we're moving, childcare is half the money we pay now, i.e., $500 cheaper!!

Cost of living, schmost of living. :)

I've been married to my best friend for a year now. Yippee!
