![]() September 4, 2001 I've also asked for a $60 art piece that's a miracle in papercutting technique from a local art gallery. My husband had said he wants to get me that, but after the golf clubs, we're tight. I am going to ask him to wait til my mom sends me my birthday check and then, I'm probably going to go get it with that. We've got this star and moon motif going in the livingroom, so I'm buying me a bit more art, yessirree. Aside from that, I do have a wishlist at amazon, if anyone is so inclined. I am more than happy to have a used books and music versus a new ones because it's a lot cheaper and then I won't feel bad when the baby drools on it. This coming weekend, Mike's company has a company picnic at one of those Waterworld parks and Mike's mom will be visiting on the other day. So there will be plenty to do this coming weekend. Mom's bringing her fiance, and he's never been here, so I'm feeling a hurricane cleaning coming on. I've already been weeding the back yard, made Mike mow the front and back, and have been clipping edges and weeds by hand. The house is pretty good right now, though I've got more laundry going on than I know what to do with and it's bad enough to have me wondering just where in the name of Beelzebubba I'm going to put it all. And this weekend, I discovered ebay. Why didn't anyone tell me? I've spent $15 so far and have another $15 pending. I am so addicted! I guess it's all good. Just more birthday for me, but I've promised Mike to knock it off, once I get my sunbeam sconce. If you don't know what that is, just run away because you don't want to know. What is sick and wrong about it is that I've been doing the geekiest thing of all while on ebay: buying Magic the Gathering cards. I'm at the point to where I'm beginning to recognize different degrees of the rarity of cards by name and am cross-referencing them in our MTG database and well, I'm embarrassed to admit that I actually have made the time to sink to this level of geekiness. The weekend after my birthday, I've asked to be taken to some apple orchards, so we can pick apples and get a hit of autumn, which just happens to be my favorite season. I don't really want dinner out this year. I want dinner with my family and wild monkey sex with my husband. whee! In this new place, I've been noticing something I never had in California, at least not with the markedness that we do here: there are seasons. I wore long pants this morning...shorts in the afternoon. Today, was an Indian Summer day...warm and pleasant and now in the dark of this earlier and earlier arrival of evening, it's cold and crisp. As I weeded the back yard, I noticed that the backyard's lone tree's leaves are turning yellow. Autumn brings my birthday, but it also brings with it a sense of being home. I'm finally feeling like I've settled into our new life. |
