Looking off into space, seeing everything,
Seeing nothing, all at once.
You are as big as the planets, you have no reality.
You cannot comprehend, and it’s not a dream. . . .
. . . .It’s a nightmare.
Your bed is made of coals, your sheets are fire.
Your eyes burn with rage, and your heart with compassion.
You are not completely evil, and you don’t know where to turn.
So you blink your eyes, and you wake up.
But this time you’re in another dream, or nightmare rather.
"Book"
I’m a book; I’m so easy to read.
"The Game of Life"
Playing the game isn’t easy,
"Doubt"
I don’t know how to respond to the feelings I have.
"Fire"
The flames leaping all around,
8-25-97
You can pull me off the shelf and open my jacket. . . .
And there you have it, you have me.
You know my thoughts, you know my dreams.
And you can read me like a book.
I’m a book on the shelf, and there are many others beside me.
8-25-97
Nobody told you the rules,
The scoreboard says, "15-0".
Your life has no meaning,
Until you make something of it.
No one else is on your team,
And you have to do it all yourself.
The reward isn’t worth it,
It’s called death.
8-26-97
I know the answer; I have the words in my mouth.
But, I just can’t say them, not to you.
Anyone else I could, but with you,
There’s too much to lose, but I love you.
I’m afraid it will take us too far,
That you wouldn’t understand the feelings I have for you.
I’m afraid you would take them the wrong way,
You would think I may be asking too much of you.
I hope these doubts are just in my head,
And not in my heart.
8-26-97
The smell of death in the air,
Something new is beginning,
It swallows up everything I have left.
Everything I knew,
It left me in an instant.
It was a sudden reminder,
Life is precious, life is harsh.
The fire swept through the land,
It didn’t look back,
It didn’t stop to think.
It ate up what love I had left,
And forever more,
The pain will endure.
To forget is hard.
But that is what you must do.
You cannot look back.
You have to move ahead,
And realize that objects aren’t important,
A life, no matter how young, or how old,
A single life, it is the most important thing of all.
