WHAT IS AGS?
What is AGS?
When I tell others that I am an officer in Alpha Gamma Sigma, the typical response is: What is that? Everybody has a different answer to this question. For me, AGS is the best learning experience and confidence-builder with which I have ever been involved.
One year ago, I became an initial member of AGS. At first, I was hesitant about signing up to do events, What did they expect from me? And, would I be able to handle their demands? These were questions that roamed my mind. Slowly, I gained more confidence, and signed up to help with events such as the Formal Banquet and the Scavenger Hunt. My confidence grew as I saw that my help was needed for events such as these to transpire successfully.
Last semester, I became an officer in AGS, and it was a learning experience. I learned how to work together with the rest of the executive board. Since my duties were not especially demanding, I began to chair events - Ski Swap Security, and Brains on Bikes. I watched amazing fund-raisers such as the Ski Swap build from level ground. I noted what steps had to be taken for these events to happen.
This next semester, I became Vice President of Fundraising. One semester as an executive is not enough for me. I owe AGS much more for changing my life. So, when people ask me, "What is AGS?" My answer is, "One of the most valuable experiences with which I have ever been involved."
