WET #24: A Color Coordinated Quest

I couldn't decide whether to call this WET 24 image "Color-Coordinated Quest" or "On the Wings of
Imagination," as in:
This sure doesn't look like Kansas, Toto. As you might guess by my results, this has been a strange weekend for me. :) The image was done completely in Paint Shop Pro 5, using wind, punch and circle deformations, motion blur, smudge, lighten, pattern fill, noise, color adjustments, selections involving feathering, and lots of layering (especially the outlines, to reinforce their shape after the color fills were applied). I have been experimenting a lot with creating a large variable-gradient pattern image. I start with a few broad streaks of solid color (and white as my background color), then blend them using various blurs and smudges and deformations till the image contains a variety of smoothly graded blends and swirls, and various depths of color. These half-sized images give some idea of the change that occurs.

I paste these smaller portions as new images, then use them as the pattern images for "Pattern Fill." I've gotten so I use this method much more than I do the regulation gradient fill option--mainly because I can use more than 2 colors. I started with 5 main colors plus white to come up with this WET 24 gradient base. For the knight, I selected a lighter area of my large pattern image, pasted it as a new image, then added noise and gaussian blur before using it as the pattern fill.

This image was created using Paint Shop Pro 5, especially for the WET #24 project.
It is my original creation based on the original WET image obtained on-line
from Tammy
through alt.binaries.comp-graphics.
Thank you!
