WET #9A

January 14, 1999

WET Logo #1 This is my first attempt at this week's W(eek)E(nd)T(heme) project, which is based on a WET logo designed by Mike.
I knew the combination I wanted..... wood background, metallic bracket under the words, rich texture on large letters, smooth texture on small ones. Paint Shop Pro 5 is the only program I used for this image. I purposely did NOT look at anyone else's images before I made this...I didn't want to get confused, over-enthused, or discouraged by anyone else's neat ideas! This is my "conservative" version of the logo. :)

WET #9B

January 15, 1999

WET Logo #2 This image was also done completely in Paint Shop Pro 5. The background water is a Monet-style tile I designed last year. I used a combination of gradient fill, noise, hot wax, colorize, drop shadow, motion blur, gaussian blur, distorted resize, burn, and probably some other things.
In my initial attempt to resize the final image to 50% for this page, I was disappointed, because it lost the 'sparkle' on the metal stand. Then my daughter suggested opening up a second copy of PSP5 and capturing the screen where I had the image magnification reduced to 1/2. It worked beautifully! This posted image is the result of that procedure.
Click on the image to see my full size graphic (79k). I like it even better, especially where the stand meets its reflection in the water.
Here is the way the image looks simply reducing it 50%. Notice the matte texture instead of the sparkle. Not bad...but definitely not what I wanted.

This image is a half-size sample of the original image Mike posted. Actually, it is only half of that image, too, since the image also contained a version of the graphic in which the largest letters were black instead of white. Original WET 9

I'll be glad to hear from you. :)

These images were created using Paint Shop Pro 5, especially for the WET #9 project.
They are my original creations based on an original image obtained on-line
