Under a million stars
oblivious to the strength
she sits on her car
staring into the waves

Crashing into the rocks
lost in the waves
she's tired of living
another solitary day

Days filled with emptiness
nights full of rain
hours spent in hopelessness
moments drenched in pain

She willingly travels outward
engulfed by the sea
each step deeper, each new wave
slowly begins to numb her pain

Soon she's floating in the darkness
searching for a truth
the sea protecting her now
as did her mother's womb

The raging waters around her
ease away her pain
cleansing her soul for freedom
providing wisdom to gain

She fights for the surface
she seeks the moonlight
her soul is burning
her world seems right

As her lungs fight for air
her mind is finally seeing
that what she was really fighting
was the pain of only being

The sea gave her knowledge
that to be is just to exist
that is more painful
than what it feels like to really live

The ocean gave her freedom
the choice to follow her dreams
it told her to start living
and nothing is what it seems
