I Wear A Veil of Need
I wear a veil of need.
Its gossamer fingers lightly encase all my
senses,
Sometimes bestowing a touch so
light
It doesn't move a lash, disturb a hair;
But I can feel its presence hovering always.
It's woven of such delicate threads
That it can't be seen by anyone else's eyes,
Undetectable to all but two who live within
it;
It gauzes my vision with a perpetual haze.
Its movement is so tenuous, so quiet,
That no one detects its gentle rustle;
But it moves so close to me, taunting me,
That I hear its soft, insistent whisper in my
ear.
It carries with it such delicate perfume,
So subtle it barely lingers in the air,
But I inhale its essence with each breath;
It's scented cloud wafting around my head.
Its sweetness lays so softly on my lips
No kiss but one can ever taste it,
Yet it seasons every word I speak
As they tumble through a honeyed mist.
