since i had looked at myself
in the mirror
really looked at myself
so while in the bathroom of a denny's
in bellevue, washington
i saw myself
streaked mirror, awkward reflection
i saw myself
for the idiot i am
a simple court jester
with passion for the job
committed to the performance
above me now
a record skips
a dog barks
and below me people talk
