So, you’re here. Now what?
Well, when I first thought of this page, the whole idea was very abstract. I know that I love lyrics, and want to share the magic of lyrics with other people. It seems that during emotional points in my life (mad, sad, glad, whatever) I’ll find some song that fits my emotion like a glove. I’ve got this theory: When our heart is searching for some way to put our feelings into words something happens, the fate, the words, the music… It all comes together and says everything we aren’t able to say ourselves. As if some higher power has read our soul and set it to music.
I think it would be interesting to hear what songs other people identify with. I KNOW I’m not the only one who finds the power of lyrics amazing. If you have any songs that you feel have touched you or mirrored your life, please let me know, I’d love to add them to this page.
My other dilemma has been trying to figure out how to categorize these lyrics. I want to make this as easy to navigate as possible, I DO NOT want to loose you in some tangled "web". If you have any suggestions please let me know.
For now, since i seem to have lost my notes on how exactly to set this up, i'll just give you a few of the lyrics i have collected in the last month or so. It's funny, most of these lyrics mirror how i was feeling at the time, and THAT is why I am putting them on this page. Be assured though, faithfull web page reader, that i will make a Table of Contents as soon as I am able. For now, please enjoy. Until I can find enough time to sort out my modge podge of lyrics, I have sorted them by subject. I know that the Title’s are a little cheezy, but they will get better, I promise!

Go on and close your eyes, go on imagine me there
She's got similar features with longer hair
And if that's what it takes to get you through
Go on and close your eyes, it shouldn't bother you
You never had to wait for nothing in your life
I guess wanting me must have been a steel blue knife
And when night after night the scent of passion would linger
You had to have the jewels wrapped around your finger
Now you keep running down the road in your midnight state of mind
Curiosity kills if you can't read the signs
Go on and close your eyes, go on imagine me there
She's got similar features with longer hair
And if that's what it takes to get you through
Go on and close your eyes, it shouldn't bother you
Dancing with the wall made you bitter and sweet
There ain't much you can do when they just lay it at your feet
But you could tell by the song I wanted to be the one
Did you listen again when the damage was done
Now the paint's still wet in your do-it-by-number dream
Are you gonna tell me how it felt, will you tell me what it means
Go on and close your eyes, go on imagine me there
She's got similar features with longer hair
And if that's what it takes to get you through
Go on and close your eyes, it shouldn't bother you
Was it want with no desire?
Was it smoke with no fire?
Did I say it doesn't rip me apart...I lied
I'm sorry dear my hands are tied
Go on and close your eyes, go on imagine me there
She's got similar features with longer hair
And if that's what it takes to get you through
Go on and close your eyes, it shouldn't bother you
is she fine
so well bred
the perfect girl
a social deb?
is she the sort
you've always thought
could make you
what you're not?
o, jealousy
is she bright
so well read
are there novels
by here bed?
is the sort
you've always said
could satisfy
your head?
o, my jealousy
does she talk
the way I do
is her voice reminding you
of the promises
the little white lies too
sometimes, tell me
while she's touching you
just by mistake
accidentally do you say my name?
Wanting What I Can’t Have/Don’t Need
BARELY BREATHING
Duncan Sheik
I know what you're doing, I see it all to clear
I only taste the saline when I kiss away your tears
You really had me going, wishing on a star
But the black holes that surround you are heavier by far
I believed in your confusion
you were so completely torn
Well it must have been that yesterday
was the day that I was born
There's not much to examine
there's nothing left to hide
You really can't be serious
if you have to ask me why
I say good-bye . . .
'Cause I am barely breathing
And I can't find the air
I don't know who I'm kidding
Imagining you care
And I could stand here waiting
A fool for another day
But I don't suppose it's worth the price
The price that I would pay
Everyone keeps asking, what's it all about?
I used to be so certain and I can't figure out
What is this attraction? I only feel the pain
There's nothing left to reason
and only you to blame Will it ever change?
I've come to find
I may never know
Your changing mind
Is it friend or foe?
I rise above
Or sink below
With every time
You come and go
Please don't come and go
'Cause I am barely breathing
And I can't find the air
I don't know who I'm kidding
Imagining you care
And I could stand here waiting
A fool for another day
But I don't suppose it's worth the price
The price that I would pay
But I'm thinking it over anyway
You and your sweet smile
You and all your tantalizing ways
You and your honey lips
You and all the sweet things that they say
You and your wild wild ways
One day you just up and walked away
You left me hurting
But I can forgive you for that now
You taught me something
Something took me half my life to learn
When you give all yourself away
Just tell them to be careful of your heart
Be careful of my heart, heart
Be careful of this heart of mine
Be careful of my heart, heart
It just might break and send some splinters flying
Be careful of my heart, heart
Be careful
You you you
Took my love
Thought you took it all
You you you
Took my love
And now you're gone
But I'm not breaking down
And I'm not falling apart
I just lost a little faith
When you broke my heart
Given a chance
I might try it again
But I wouldn't risk it all this time
I'd save
A little love for myself
Enough for my heart to mend
A little love for myself
One day I just might love again
One day some sweet smile might turn my head
One day I just might give all myself away
One day
(D. Warren)
Wish I could be the one
The one who could give you love
The kind of love you really need
Wish I could say to you
That I'll always stay with you
But baby that's not me
You need someone willing to give their heart and soul to you
Promise you forever, baby that's something I can't do
Oh I could say that I'll be all you need
But that would be a lie
I know I'd only hurt you
I know I'd only make you cry
I'm not the one you're needing
I love you, goodbye
I hope someday you can Find some way to understand I'm only doing this
for you
I don't really wanna go
But deep in my heart I know this is the kindest thing to do
You'll find someone who'll be the one that I could never be
Who'll give you something better
Than the love you'll find with me
Oh I could say that I'll be all you need
But that would be a crime
I know I'd only hurt you
I know I'd only make you cry
I'm not the one you're needing
I love you, goodbye
Leaving someone when you love someone
Is the hardest thing to do
When you love someone as much as I love you
Oh I don't wanna leave you
Baby it tears me up inside
But I'll never be the one you're needing
I love you, goodbye
Baby, its never ganna work out
I love you, goodbye
If you wait for me
Then I'll come for you
Although I've travelled far
I always hold a place for you
In my heart
If you think of me
If you miss me once in a while
Then I'll return to you
I'll return and fill that space in your heart
Remembering your touch
Your kiss
Your warm embrace
I'll find my way
Back to you
If you'll be waiting
If you dream of me
Like I dream of you
In a place that's warm and dark
In a place where I can feel
The beating of your heart
I've longed for you
And I have desired
To see your face your smile
To be with you wherever you are
Please say you'll be waiting
Together again
It would feel so good to be in your arms
Where all my journeys end
If you make a promise
If it's one that you can keep
I vow to come to you
If you wait for me
And say you'll hold
A place for me
In your heart
All the bridges that you burn
Come back one day to haunt you
One day you'll find you're walking
Lonely
Baby I
Never meant to hurt you
Sometimes the best intentions
Still don't make things right
But all my ghosts they find me
Like my past they think they own me
In dreams and dark corners they surround me
Till I cry I cry
Let me take this time to set the record straight
Let me take this time to take it all back
Let me take this time to tell you how I felt
Let me take this time to try and make it right
But you can
Walk away
Be all alone
Spend all your time
Thinking about the way things used to be
If love feels right
You work it out
You don't give it up
Baby
Anybody tell you that
Anybody tell you that
Anybody tell you that
You should take some time maybe sleep on it tonight
You should take some time baby heed the words I say
You should take some time think about your life
You should take some time before you throw it all away
I ain't got the time
To sit here and wait around
But I got the time
If you say I'm what you want
At this point in my life, I've done so many things wrong I don't know if
I can do right.
If you put your trust in me, I hope I won't let you down.
If you give me a chance, I'll try.
You see it's been hard the road I'm traveling on, and if I take your
hand I might lead you down the path to ruin.
I've had a hard life-just saying so you understand that right now, right
now I'm doing the best that I can at this point in my life.
At this point in my life, although I've mostly walked in the shadows,
I'm still searching for light.
Won't you put your faith in me?
We both know that's what matters.
If you give me a chance, I'll try.
You see, I've been climbing stairs, but mostly stumbling down.
I've been reaching high but mostly losing ground.
You see I've conquered hills but I still have mountains to climb and
right now, right now, I'm doing the best I can at this point in my life.
Before we take a step, before we walk down the path, before I make any
promises, before you have regrets, before we talk commitment, let me
tell you of my past-all I've seen and all I've done, the things I'd like
to forget at this point in my life.
At this point in my life, I'd like to live as if only love mattered, as
if redemption was in sight, as if the search to live honestly is all
that anyone needs, no matter if you find it.
You see when I've touched the sky, the earth's gravity has pulled me
down.
But now I've reconciled that in this world, birds and angels get the
wings to fly.
If you can believe in this heart of mine, if you can give it a try, then
I'll reach inside and find and give you all the sweetness that I have at
this point in my life, at this point in my life.
On a bus to St. Cloud, Minnesota
I thought I saw you there
With the snow falling down around you
Like a silent prayer
And once on a street in New York City
With the jazz and the sin in the air
And once on a cold L.A. freeway
Going nowhere
And it's strange, but it's true
I was sure it was you
Just a face in the crowd
On a bus to St. Cloud
In a church in downtown New Orleans
I got down on my knees and prayed
And I wept in the arms of Jesus
For the choice you made
We were just gettin' to the good part
Just gettin' past the mystery
Oh, and it's just like you, it's just like you
To disagree
And it's strange but it's true
You just slipped out of view
Like a face in the crowd
On a bus to St. Cloud
And you chase me like a shadow
And you haunt me like a ghost
And I hate you some, and I love you some
But I miss you most...
It's amazing how you can speak right to my heart
Without saying a word, you can light up the dark
Try as I may, I could never explain
What I hear when you don't say a thing
The smile on my face lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall
You say it best when you say nothing at all
All day long I can hear people talking out loud
But when you hold me near, you drown out the crowd
Ol' Mr. Webster could never define
What's being said between your heart and mine
The smile on my face lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall
You say it best when you say nothing at all
I used to think that I could not go wrong
And life was nothing but that an awful song
But now I know the meaning of true love
I'm leaning on the everlasting arms
If I can see it, then I can do it
If I just believe it, there's nothing to it
I believe I can fly
I believe I can touch the sky
I think about it every night and day
Spread my wings and fly away
I believe I can soar
I see me running through that open door
I believe I can fly I believe I can fly
Oh, I believe I can fly
See I was on the verge of breaking down
Sometimes inside us, it can seem so long
There are miracles in life I must achieve
Could I believe in it?
To The Top
You're like a cool breeze to a hot spell
You're like a long drink to a dry well
Oh I know by now there's no use thinking
That it's something in that water I've been drinking
Cause I would not need even one more drop if you'd just let me into your heart
you're like a blue sky to a gray day
you're like a new try to an old way
Oh I never needed much convincing '
bout that something in my life that's been missing
But I think I know where to find that part if you'd just let me into your heart
I got a past baby, now who doesn't
I won't ask you to think that I wasn't
Who I was back then, yes it's true
But that was when I didn't know you
You're like a sweet sight to these tired eyes
You're like the first light after a long night
Oh I never believed in the hands of fate
But to be with you baby, I believe I'd wait
Til the end of time for a chance to start
If you'd just let me into your heart
You're like a sweet smile to these tired eyes
You're like the last mile on a long ride
Oh I never believed in the arms of fate
But to be in yours darling, I believe I'd wait
Til the end of time for a chance to start
If you'd just let me into your heart
Til the end of time, baby I can start
If you'd just let me into your heart
(S. Peiken, A. Roman)
She can feel you
Drifting far away
But she can't see through
What you do not say
Take a step back
Don't lose your ground
Remember how you felt before
And if you care about her
Show her that you're sure
If I were you
My prized possessions
Would be the ones I'd hold so close
'Cause when you lose your love
You lose what means the most
If I were you
I'd hold affection
Higher than any star in sight
Take this to heart
And you'll never part
These are the things that I would do
If I were you
Simple pleasures
The hardest to be found
Can't be measured
'Till they're not around
Maybe she'll go
Maybe she'll stay
But she'd rather go than fade away
Sometimes the sweetest sorrow
Is the saddest fate
(Chorus)
Take a step back
Don't lose your ground
Remember how you felt before
And if you care about her
Show her that you're sure
If I were you
I'd hold affection
Higher than any star in sight
Take this to heart
And you'll never part
These are the things that I would do
If I were you
Take this to heart
You'll never part
These are the things that I would do
If I were you
