Life in Alaska is very different.. At least.. that is what i have been told by people who aren't from here. Which only makes sence since i am from here and used to it. *L*

I am 5th generation alaskan, which means my mother, her father, his father, and his father were all born in Alaska. Pretty amazing huh?

Setting some Things Straight

I have lived in Alaska all my life.. I've lived in Kodiak, Juneau, Anchorage, Eagle River, Wasilla, Fairbanks, and Seward.

I used to live in Juneau, which is Alaska's state capitol. The weird thing about Juneau is, even though it is the State Capitol, there are no roads leading in or out of town. You have to take a ferry to Haines or Skagway (about 8 hours) and then from there drive somewhere else. *i will try to find a map of AK so you can see what i am talking about*

You can fly out of Juneau, but the only airlines that serves Juneau is Alaska Airlines, and since they have a monopoly on it they charge exhuberant prices. To put things plainly, a Round Trip from Juneau to Seattle is currently $340. But a round trip from Anchorage to Seattle (which is twice the length of Juneau to Seattle) is only $135.

So Alaska... what do you want to know? If you'd rather learn from the "experts" try www.alaska.com.

Let me start off by answering a few questions. Alaska is a very very LARGE state. It is impossible to make a "blanket statement" about Alaska in regards to the weather or the people or the scenery. I'll give you the brief run-down that i give to all people who ask me about Alaska. The further NORTH you go, the more extreme things get. The winters are colder the further north you go, the night lasts longer in the winter the further north you go, and the sun stays up longer the further north you go (in the summer)
