Have you ever watched those tormenting cmmercials that, apparently, the producers think are cute because they involve kids? The most annoying ones are the advertisments when they can't find proper child talent & have to end up over -dubbing some scenes. The examples I am writing about currently are Ovilteen, shampoo & a campaign ad.

First off we have Ovilteen; the magickal chocolate powder...mmm... The two Moms are whining that their kids just eat junk when one suggests Ovilteen. Suddenly there is a room full of pre-ados drooling over the chocolate concoction. At the very end it shows the kids saying "More Ovilteen, please". No problem, right? Look at their mouths. You have maybe, one, two actually saying it on cue, at least one mouthing the words correctly & about five just moving their mouths. Then, there is one little red-head up fron wagging her taught-at-a-bad-child-drama-school jaw making a "ragh-ragh-ragh" motion. I can just hear the sounds of the set: "Ok, cue!" "More Oviltenn, pl---ragh-rahg-ragh..." "Bog, Michelle, can you grab that boy in the back & take him to the studio. We have to over-dub---ragh-ragh-ragh..."

Next, we have that one shampoo with the slogan "Because we're worth it, too". You have kids having fun, lathering, rinsing & the such. At the end we have well-groomed yet in-the-hep kids smiling & saying the slogan. Once again: "...we're worth---ragh-ragh-rahg..." I think the little red-head is type cast by arch-nemisis producers wanting to make the directors hire someone to pull their hair(plugs) out.

Finally, we have my favourite. You would have had to have been in Missouri about five years ago now to see this ad. It was a ploy against Congressman Gephardt, & very funny, I might add. You see a young girl, six, seven, eight, drawing & chanting in a sing-songy-sort-of-way "Congressman Gephardt picks our pockets..." It was very funny because I think the guy at the mixing-board was haveing a faboo-day sniffing petro fumes. When her mouth said "Congressman" her voice said "our pockets..." Very nicely done.

Someday I hope to cast children in a low budget commercial so I can ruin my life & career within a minute & thirty seconds of air time. Thank you.
