Lost Imprisonment

A Poem by

   02/2000

Expanding into the deaf horizon of my dreams,
and suddenly stopped
by a bold lightning rod
striking my body.

A white dove floats by
in the crisp electric air.
He looks into my eyes,
and sees the horrible pain
digging into my being.

My rapidly beating heart
slows to a relaxed thump.
A gentle rain softly falls down
unto my thirsty face.

Falling harder now
it envelops my mind.

The white dove still floats
in the muggy, damp air
and watches,
learns
of the changes that have become.

I now lay in the cold, chilling grass
that tickles my bruised skin.
Tears replace the rain
as I look up
into the cloudless, starry night.

I spring off the cold grass,
and leap into
the haze of the darkness.

Leaping, rather flying
through the tall grass,
I stumble over a hard rock
and fall
to the muddy earth below.
