CIVILIZATION IN SPACE:
The Possible Dream

or
Busting Your Assumptions

Do you, like me, find yourself disillusioned by all the stuff you read about the future of space travel? This has been bothering me for well over 2 decades, but I only recently figured out why. Basically it is that:

I really don't think any of them expect to actually go out on the High Frontier themselves, nor that they would have what it takes to survive Out There. The qualities needed are sorely lacking in the academics and other PhDs who populate the "Space Movement," mainly due to class, but also to sheer mental inertia. To be blunt, anyone who couldn't handle theirself on the street in Harlem will not be able to handle their self in space, and assuming that what you've always had will be what you'll always have is sheer laziness.

That's why I've dedicated this webpage to Busting Your Assumptions ...

Maybe you should start with ROCKETS WON'T WORK.
