I Would Like To See ...

• BOOKS! Supplementary books that is. All those ones referred to in the novels I'd like to see actually written out, and by none other than Jo Rowling herself of course. A History Of Magic In The 20th Century would help a lot in understanding Harry's world better and putting all the novels in a clearer context. Better keep mum on this until Book 7 comes out though, or she may never finish the series.

• DRACO MALFOY GET REALLY MESSED UP, after doing something diabolically evil, of course. He has to deserve it. It would be ideal if he joined the Death Eaters as a full-fledged member and murdered someone, then Harry (or Ron or Hermione) did him in.

• DUMBLEDORE REVEALED. We really don't know much about old Albus Dumbledore. Where does he live? What is he like outside of school? Does he have a family (besides his brother that is)?? Most especially I'd like to hear more about history and his place in it.

• HAGRID WITH MADAME MAXIME. DUH! Who wouldn't? They're perfect for each other. And can you imagine the children ... !!

• HARRY AND HERMIONE IN LOVE. I know lots of fans see Ron and Hermione as inevitable, and that may well happen, but I think Harry and Hermione is more appropriate. After all, she did give him a kiss at the end of Book 4. Ron's problem is that he is childish; specifically he is full of jealousy and self pity when he really has nothing to complain about. Harry on the other hand has a lousy life but just gets on with it. Girls go for guys they admire, and Hermione surely admires Harry. Besides that Britons tend to consider quiet suffering a virtue, and by that count Ron is contemptible while Harry is a saint. There's ANOTHER thing for Ron to resent! Do you see why he could never make a good boyfriend?

  I dunno ... I can see Ron and Hermione getting together and Harry being jealous, the trio breaking up, then Ron and Hermione both realizing they were wrong and Hermione going to Harry, her One True Love. Once there's no rivalry between them Harry and Ron make up, and the three are friends again.

  And everyone thinks Hermione is going to become a Prefect ... and the Prefects do have that deliciously indulgent bath chamber ... !!

• HARRY'S FAMILY HISTORY. Everyone wants to know this. We already know James Potter was rich, but we know nothing of his parents or other relatives. Does Harry have distant cousins? Could (GASP!) THE MALFOYS be related to Harry? Perish the thought!

• NEVILLE TRIUMPHANT. YES! We know Neville Longbottom witnessed his parents' torture and had to have memory charms put on him to help him forget. What if they are removed? What might this reveal? Maybe something dreadful about the torturers who got away? Could they be ... the Malfoys? Ludo Bagman? Or even ... SNAPE!!? In any event I hope Neville gets his revenge on the evil scum who destroyed his Mum and dad's minds. And that leads to ...

• NEVILLE'S PARENTS SANITY RETURNED. They are supposedly incurable, but lots of things were incurable yesterday that you just take a pill for today. It sure would be great to see them sane again. This could be a tremendous emotional scene and would make a superb subplot for Book 5, 6 or 7. Hullo, JK?

• SEVERUS SNAPE: THE DEFINITIVE BIOGRAPHY. Or at least enough to let us know where he came from. What were his parents like? Were they rich, poor or in between? Why is he such a hateful, rotten asshole? The truth is, I expect a comparison between Ron and Snape to be made sooner or later. After all they are quite alike, envious and resentful. The difference is that Ron still manages to be a decent guy, while Snape doesn't even try. Maybe Dumbledore can point this out in one of his expositional office lectures sometime.

• SNAPE DIE A NOBLE DEATH. Severus Snape in HP is kind of like Darth Vader in Star Wars: he is evil, yes, and you love to hate him, but you have to respect him. Snape has principles, even though we may not like them. I'd love to see Snape die (who wouldn't!) but not trivially, and not until he has done something to redeem himself. Something like, say, saving Harry's life. "Take THAT Potter, you horrid little creep!" This will finally even the scales that Snape seems to find so imbalanced, and will change their relationship forever. Now Harry owes HIM and Snape won't let Harry forget it. So let's have this happen in Book 7 so Harry doesn't have to live with it for too long, hehehe.
