Catholic Girl!! This is my most recent and most technically proficient comic. I made it for my Narrative Disscussions class at Emily Carr. (this is basically a hoity toity name for a class about telling storys through art.) While I was hanging around in my room with my virile young boyfriend one evening, disscussing the sad state of affairs surrounding religion at our violently left-wing school, I mentioned sarcastically that I should do a comic about a Catholic girl who goes out brutally murdering Gays and Pro-Choicers. This was ment to be just a funny little comment, but Zane thought it would be absolutely hilarious if I actually did it. You see, at our school, everyone is so incredibly wrapped up with the idea that they're so hard done by. The big bad white man has duped everyone and they have to make their plea heard. If you're not a feminist, gay, wiccan or a vegan, you're evil in the eyes of Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design. I decided it was my right as a Middle Class, White, Straight, Italian, Roman Catholic Pro-Life girl, to have my say too. So, I decided to make that damn comic for my Narrative Disscussions class final project. I toned it down a bit to make it less offensive....I'm not THAT brave yet. After several weeks of late nights, up with my India ink and my CBC Radio 2, (brave new waves) and my English Breakfast tea, I spawned Catholic Girl.
