Jointed Mini Dolls

On my travels on the Internet I came across a site with a pattern for a Sumo Wrestler doll. I was intrigued by it and saved it for future use. Well, the time had come to try it out.

The instructions were quite easy to follow and I am very pleased with the result. The part that I found the most interesting was that by attaching a buttons on the outside of each leg they became moveable. Wow, that got my creative juices flowing and got me experimenting.

Now I was curious if I could create my own dolls and make the arms and legs moveable also?

I looked through my patterns on my computer and decided to experiment with my mini dolls. I had to separate the legs and the arms from the body and give it a finished look. Then I printed out my pattern at about 80-85% of the original size, cut it out and assembled the doll.

Well, the doll looks ok in the picture on the left, but it really isn't ok. The head is too small and not rounded enough and there are no shoulders. The lower part of the doll, however, looks ok.

Then I had the idea of dressing the doll and hiding its flaws. Now the doll looks ok.

After making the changes to the pattern this is now my improved version of the doll. By making the the top of the doll wider than the bottom, giving the doll shoulders and adding an extra curve to the back of the head the finished doll looks really cute.
