Back years ago when I had been attempting to run from the life of Greenville thinking that it was the problem. I took off towards Dallas telling my parents that I was letting my house go and going to look for a job. I headed out not really knowing what I was going to do, but as I ventured closer to Dallas I saw 635 South and turned on it. I had been getting lost in alcohol at that time attempting to drink misery away. I drank all the way as I drove and I drove. I finally ran out of South. I found Aransas Texas which I drove down to the Ferry boat landing and went over to Port Aransas. I had 7 dollars left to my name then I went to find the beach thinking I must have seemed a fool while walking into store asking, "where's the beach"? Needless to say I found it. It was Sunday and had a little beer left, but no food. Monday came and I went and bought more beer with the last of my money. Then I went for weeks with no food and most days were only water. I walked 2 miles up the beach to a club called the Gaff. I would go in and order a glass of water every day. Starving to death I sat there while one day entered a big burly guy. I hadnt seen him before. He came up to me asking if he could sit with me. I said sure it's a free country. As I sat sipping my water he looked at me and said in a worrisome voice, "You Look bad". I said thanks and kept sipping my water. He proceded to get up and walk to the bar and put a case that he was carrying up on the bar. "I didnt see the case when he sat down at the table before"! He sold the lady behind the bar some costume jewelry and bought me a hamburger, fries and a soda. He brought it to me and said without any hesitant, "EAT". I did but didnt know how I could repay the guy. After I finished he asked where I was staying. I said in my truck, but I was out of gas so I was a foot. So he walked back to my truck with me and pitched a tent that he had with him. I slept in the back of my truck. Anyways as days went by he continued to sell jewelry and feed me till one day I met up with some other guys on the beach and we put together a 4 man band. Me playing bongos. They got me a job working in construction. We built the 7 11 that is there now. We started playing music in all the night clubs there for extra cash. Time went on then one day I reallized that I wanted to go home. I hadnt called my parents in the year I had been there. I rounded up my band and we started to head out. I looked for my buddy that had saved my life and he was gone... I asked all the others if they had seen him. They all said "WHO"? No one else had seen him. I went to the ferry boat landing and described the guy and asked if they had seen him. They said no such guy had come over that any could recall. I said he must have. I asked the other directions and no one had ever seen a guy resembling my description. Then one of my friends in my band named CJ told me "He must have been your angel". I never really thought about it much till time had gone by. God had seen that I was at the end of my rope and I needed help. The guy came just when I had given up and was ready to die. God sent my friend to nourished me till I was strong enough to make it on my on and left knowing that God was taking care of me. Now as time goes by I still remember the good deed that the guy did. I didnt even get his name. Just called him dude, friend and whatever else popped into my mind. But in any name he was my guardian angel. his name was MY FRIEND I hope that this story reassures you that God does care and He is always watching. He may not do what we think He ought to do, but He always doe's what is needed. May God bless your lives as He has blessed mine. My nic name was the same then. ANIMAL Most didnt know my real name
