Story of Love

From Bill Pearce

This is a story about a family that is not unlike some of our own. The family lives out their lives each day just as we do thinking at times that our time on earth to show our love is limitless. Well one day this man, "father of a family" in a small town was inlisted in the military. He always tried his best to show his family the love he has, but not knowing what type they were really wanting. Well he had 3 kids 15, 8 and 5. The 5 year old was not able to understand why daddy was having to leave and the father knew that. So as he was at the train station getting ready to board he looked down at little Jimmy and gave him a hug and a kiss and an nice shiny apple which he put into his tiny hands and folded them around it and said son you will not have this eaten before I get home. As he boarded his train the son looked and tears welled in his eyes. He began to run following the train as it departed as fast as his little legs could take him as he dropped the apple to the ground. He yelled at the top of his lungs, "Daddy I don't want the things you give"
"I Want You"
Are we trying to give our kids things rather than just giving of ourselves? Think about it for a moment. I did. I also remember all the times I would have rathered have my mom and dad rather than just things, because things cant show affection and they all wither away without an ounce of love inside. So many times. Do you do the same thing, trying to replace the time that you don't spend with your kids with things. try breaking away from that habit and holding them in your arms and telling them you love them. You may not get a second chance. Not one of us knows when our time on earth is up, but God,
"so use it wisely."
This story was told by my preacher the 24th of May. I may not have worded it the same as he did, but I think I get the story across.

May God Bless Your Family
