Boy in Wagon or Death and Adolescence

Boy in Wagon or Death and
Adolescence

The passing away of our childhood can be viewed as a death. But childhood does not necessarily cease to exist once we have become adults. Because when we reflect upon the past, present or future, it is the past which has the greater reality. For you see, the future is pure potential, it may or may not be. And the present...the present is temporary and vanishes like a brief puff of smoke. It is only when the present becomes past does it become fixed. Unlike the present, is only the past which is permanent and therefore eternal. That is, the past cannot be changed or altered in any way. It is not transitory like the present. The past lies forever frozen in time, and it is a living though ''silent" monument and record of existence. Indeed, the past is the enduring foundation upon which the present and future rest.

And so the 'Boy In The Wagon' symbolizes your own past childhood forever frozen in time. And who knows, some futuristic thinkers speculate that the past may one day be unfrozen and made accessible once again. In science fiction, this notion is called time-travel. Anyway to be sure, we can access our personal past and the past of others through monuments and crypts, remembrance, reflection and contemplation.
